As a Domestic Violence Victims Advocate for Catholic Charities of Herkimer County, you will play a vital role in the lives of survivors and their families, providing safety, support, and empowerment through:
- Provide advocacy for victims applying for other services in order to live violence and abuse free.
- Provide or arrange for transportation as necessary.
- Client advocacy and accompaniment through court, social services, medical and housing systems, and others where appropriate.
- Maintain accurate and complete case notes.
- Provision of children services, including: counseling, recreational activities and childcare as appropriate.
- Shared coverage of 24-hour hotline.
- Facilitation of support group as required.
- Follow mandatory reporting guidelines in suspected child abuse and/or neglect disclosures.
- Shelter maintenance, including day-to-day upkeep, cleaning and purchasing supplies and food.
- Collect and sort donations made to program.
Domestic Violence Shelter Advocate Minimum Pay: $18.00
Domestic Violence Shelter Advocate Maximum Pay: $20.00
Domestic Violence Shelter Advocate Schedule: Monday through Friday 8:30AM to 4PM - Occasional on call shift required!
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 1-3 years of experience in mental health, substance use, or human services
