Position Summary  

The Director of Business Development will be responsible for executing the business development strategy to drive growth and profitability for VGM & Associates. In this role, you will identify and pursue new business opportunities, manage and grow existing key accounts, and work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the success of the U.S. Rehab program. This role is an individual contributor, B2B outside sales position that proactively manages large scale accounts. The director must establish and cultivate relationships with potential and current clients across the U.S. through active lead generation activities including account-based marketing approaches, event attendance, phone call and email outreach and local “on the ground” relationship building. 

 

The Director of Business Development will work in a remote capacity overseeing many accounts including our complex rehab technology manufacturer partners and members. This role will require regular business travel across the country and may require additional hours beyond the standard 40-hour work week. 

 

Reporting Accountability: VP of U.S. Rehab - VGM & Associates 

Working Location: Remote, regular travel and corporate visits as needed 

Work Hours Classification: Full-time, Monday-Friday 

 

Responsibilities of the Job 

  • Identify new business opportunities and cultivate relationships with potential key accounts.
  • Independently manage time, territory and travel in a way that maximizes the number of sales contacts across office based, direct in-person and event interactions.
  • Generate sales leads through business development activities, consistently updating and maintaining detailed use of the CRM system to track and manage all sales efforts and pipeline opportunities.
  • Effectively utilize technology to facilitate remote presentations.
  • Promote a positive image for U.S. Rehab by participating in tradeshows, professional organizations, and community functions.
  • Prepare and present regular updates on key account performance and progress to team.
  • Stay current on industry trends and competitive landscape to identify new opportunities and threats.
  • Build relationships at varying levels with manufacturer partners, including leadership as well as sales team.
  • Consult with the almost 400 members of U.S. Rehab to ensure they are utilizing the programs and are purchasing from the manufacturer partners.

Position Qualifications  

The Director of Business Development must be a self-starter with strong leadership and communication skills, ability to close sales and build deep customer relationships, and desire to surpass sales goals evident from previous accomplishments.

 

Education/Experience: 

  • Bachelor's degree desired.
  • 10+ years’ sales experience with extensive market knowledge and proven success.

Skills and competencies: 

  • 6+ years of sales experience in B2B consultative sales role, selling to senior leadership in healthcare markets.
  • Proven record of exceeding sales quotas and familiarity with consultative sales within the last 3 years.
  • Expertise with technology (Dynamics CRM, PowerPoint, Excel forms, web-based software applications, etc.).
  • Strong organization, planning, and analytical skills.
  • Proven ability to build relationships/rapport and respect of customers.
  • Present in an outgoing, confident, and persuasive manner.
  • Sound interpersonal, verbal, and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Highly organized with experience and success working in a timeline driven environment.
  • Shows commitment to a customer-focused approach and high-quality performance.

Physical Requirements 

  • Operation of office equipment and using technology efficiently such as computers, phones, misc. office equipment.        
  • Visual abilities to include reading, distance vision and peripheral vision.
  • Moving throughout the VGM facilities when needed.
  • Ability to work in front of a computer for long amounts of time and efficiently utilize technology.
  • Regular overnight travel required.
  • Travel to the VGM offices, business-critical meetings, and company events on occasion.

Compensation Overview 

The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.
