Position: Optimization Technician
Reports to: Quality Control Superintendent
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Position Overview: The Optimization Technician will play a crucial role in maximizing efficiency and quality within our sawmill operations using advanced technology and process improvement methodologies.
Responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain optimization systems and equipment to ensure optimal performance and efficiency in the sawmill.
- Monitor and adjust processes to minimize waste, maximize yield, and enhance product quality.
- Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to optimization systems and equipment.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives to optimize cutting patterns, reduce downtime, and improve overall operational efficiency.
- Utilize data analytics and software tools to analyze production data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions to enhance performance.
- Participate in the development and implementation of safety protocols and procedures related to optimization systems.
- Train and mentor operators and production staff on the use of optimization systems and best practices for maximizing efficiency.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to optimization system performance, maintenance activities, and production metrics.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree or technical certification in a relevant field preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical components.
- Familiarity with optimization software and systems (e.g., scanning systems, computerized numerical control (CNC) machinery) preferred.
- Understanding of sawmill operations, including log breakdown, sorting, and grading processes.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a demanding environment.
- Strong attention to detail and critical thinking skills.
- Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to safety regulations and protocols.
