Schedule will be nights with needed flexibility for weekends. Weekday start time would be 7/8pm.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Housekeep Director, the Custodial Technician is responsible for keeping the branches and the included childcare sites clean, safe and attractive through proactive supervision of housekeeping employees, with minimal disruption to members, community participants, and visitors. Maintain a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes member safety and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Ensures Y is attractive and clean by completing all duties listed on the daily schedule and maintains upkeep of assigned area and equipment
2. Perform wet and dust mopping, dusting, trash removal, recycling, window washing, pool cleaning, painting, vacuuming, seasonal activities dealing with lawn care and snow removal, and general cleaning
3. Operates all motorized heavy duty cleaning equipment (floor scrubbers, shower cleaners, floor waxers)
4. Wear all necessary Personal Protective Equipment.
5. Work in adverse conditions while cleaning.
6. Records and reports all needed repairs; repairs as directed
7. Ensures YMCA building and property is secure during shift and report incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor
8. Conduct daily inspections of building to ensure expectations are being met by the housekeeping team. Follow through on all expectations and on all task that need to be accomplished.
9. Replaces soap, paper towels, and other supplies
10. May set up furniture for events
11. Provide leadership assistance, training and direction to the housekeeping team, coordinate work/tasks of the housekeeping staff and address needs for absences and vacations.
12. Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High School diploma or equivalent
2. 2 years of related experience preferred
3. Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents
4. Ability to report and record maintenance requests
5. Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment
6. High level of understanding of the upkeep and care of equipment
7. Understanding of cleaning compounds and chemicals, and their safe, efficient use
8. Must possess a valid driver’s license
CERTIFICATIONS:
1. Bloodborne Pathogens/Child Abuse Prevention every year.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

2. Sufficient physical strength and agility to carry out essential duties; lift 50 lbs. regularly
3. Ability to erect and stand on ladders and platforms at heights up to 30 feet
4. Ability to work with cleaning equipment, chemical compounds, solvents, cleaners, and solutions in dry, liquid, powder, spray, and aerosol forms
5. Ability to clean equipment, and operate motorized equipment as needed
6. Ability to work in conditions that will create dirt and dust
7. Ability to perform essential maintenance to facility or equipment which may involve, but not limited to the following activities: semi – reaching to full-reach overhead; crouching; kneeling; shoveling; carrying, working in narrow and/or confining spaces: underground, overhead, and at ground level; twisting of the waist, shoulders, and legs; and lying on stomach and/or back
