Under direct supervision, responsible for providing general patient care for patients under the direction of a registered nurse, provider or other team leader.
The Department of Family and Community Medicine is seeking a Medical Assistant to join the Advanced Primary Care Team at the Family Health Center, located at Robert B. Green to maximize Value-Based and Quality care for patients. The MA will work with other clinic MA’s, LVN’s, RN’s, physicians, community health workers and other health care staff at clinical sites.
LOCATION: Family Health Center at the Robert B. Green campus.
Responsibilities
- Will effectively and efficiently manage the transition of care process for all patients seen in the ED or the hospital, as needed, to include calling patients, setting appointments for follow up, documenting and communicating all necessary information to physician in a timely manner.
- Will conduct face-to face encounters, phone calls, and medical record review to support the clinic’s value-based care initiative; assist with patient care coordination and providing support to clinic health care team: patients, providers, and staff.
- Will become proficient at using the electronic medical record to evaluate and document health care needs and communication with patients and providers.
- Will complete direct referrals to clinic resources, and interpret patient needs as well as routing patient, facility and provider communication within the clinic.
- Will serve as an advocate for patients dealing with healthcare providers, insurance plans, community resources and provide information to patients as needed.
- Will provide support to team members in clinic and outside services that work with Family Medicine care team: Family Medicine Hospital Service and Promotores.
- Performs all other duties assigned.

EDUCATION:
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- Graduation from a Medical Assistant program or equivalent training/experience in healthcare is preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
- Three (3) years of directly-related experience as a Medical Assistant is required.
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION:
- CPR certification is required.
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification is preferred.
Company
- Front-loaded Paid Time Off: 128 to 208 hours (16 to 26 days) of Paid Time Off based on years of service, given at the start of each fiscal year. PTO may be prorated in year one based on date of hire.
- Extended Illness Bank: 8 hours (1 day) accrued per month which can be used for illness or injury after one day of Paid Time Off is taken.
