JOB SUMMARY:

The Accountant manages financial resources by identifying, measuring, analyzing, and interpreting information utilized by management. This position maintains accurate financial records, ensures compliance with accounting principles, and performs various accounting tasks. The Accountant also prepares financial reports, assists in budgeting and forecasting activities, and contributes to effective financial planning and control.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists in training personnel as needed or as directed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

  1. Financial Reporting: Preparing and presenting accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and any other financial reporting documents as requested.
  2. Costing, Budgeting and Forecasting: Assisting in the analysis of product costs and the creation of budgets and financial forecasts to help the company price, plan and allocate resources effectively.
  3. Financial Analysis: Conducting various financial analyses to evaluate the company’s financials health and performance and support business decisions, such as cost-benefit analysis, trend analysis, and profitability assessment.
  4. Cash Management: Monitoring and managing cash position to ensure the company has adequate funds to meet its daily financial obligations.
  5. Software and Systems: Utilizing ERP and accounting software and other tools to efficiently perform tasks and maintain organized financial records.  This includes being a subject matter expert on applicable subsystems and business process to support other departments
  6. Collaboration: Working closely with other departments, such as operations, purchasing, logistics and human resources, to provide financial information and support decision-making.
  7. Audit Support: Assisting auditors during financial and banking audits to provide necessary documentation and explanation of business activities

OTHER DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Problem Solving: Identifying and resolving discrepancies or financial issues promptly to maintain accurate financial records.
  2. Continuous Improvement: Proactively seeking ways to improve personal skill sets along with and identifying and supporting improved business processes.
  3. Backup Support: Provide backup support to other team members or departments when needed. This may involve assisting with tasks or responsibilities during peak periods, employee absences, or as directed by management.

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING

  • Three to five years of related experience.
    • Preferred 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or related field
    • Required
  • Professional designations in Certified Public Accountant
    • Preferred
  • Valid state motor vehicle operator’s license.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
  • Ability to perform repetitive movements over long periods of time.
  • Ability to maintain single task focus and situational awareness.
