Overview
The Program Director – EPMO is a senior leader within the Enterprise Portfolio Management Office responsible for ensuring the successful execution of enterprise programs and projects aligned with strategic priorities. Reporting to the Executive Director of the Transformation Management Office within the Office of Strategic Advancement, the Program Director partners in a dyad relationship with the Portfolio Director to translate strategy into action through disciplined delivery and cross-functional coordination. This role serves as the central point of accountability for program delivery, risk and issue management, and benefits realization. The Program Director works collaboratively with operational, clinical, and functional leaders to ensure that prioritized initiatives are delivered effectively—on time, within scope and budget, and with measurable outcomes that drive enterprise value.
Responsibilities
Program Execution & Delivery Oversight• Lead the execution of large, cross-functional enterprise programs aligned with strategicobjectives.• Ensure adherence to approved scope, schedule, budget, and quality standards across allprogram components.• Establish consistent program management practices, methodologies, and tools across theEPMO.• Track and report progress toward defined outcomes and key performance indicators.Risk, Issue & Change Management• Proactively identify and mitigate risks and issues that may affect program delivery oroutcomes.• Ensure change control processes are applied consistently and transparently acrossprojects.• Support program sponsors and project managers in navigating complexity and removingexecution barriers.Resource Coordination & Alignment• Collaborate with Portfolio Director to align program resource requirements withenterprise capacity planning.• Partner with functional and operational leaders to assign and coordinate appropriateproject teams.• Ensure efficient and effective use of internal and external resources to meet programdemands.Leadership & Coaching• Provide direction and support to Project Managers and Program Managers responsible forexecution.• Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement acrossdelivery teams.• Responsible for the EPMO Center of Excellence to deploy program and projectmanagement standards of practice• Mentor staff in project management discipline, leadership development, and stakeholderengagement.Stakeholder Engagement & Communication• Serve as the primary liaison for executive sponsors, operational leaders, and deliveryteams for in-flight programs.• Provide regular program status updates, insights, and escalations to governance boardsand senior leadership.• Translate complex program updates into executive-level communication that drivesunderstanding and alignment.
Qualifications
EDUCATION:Required: Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, healthcare administration, orrelated field of study.Preferred: Master’s degree, preferred in business, engineering, healthcareadministration, or related field of study.
EXPERIENCE:Required:Minimum of 7 years of experience in a healthcare, business, or operational leadershiprole.• At least 5 years of experience managing complex programs with cross-functional scopeand enterprise impact.• Demonstrated experience delivering strategic initiatives through structured program andproject management methods.• Proven ability to lead teams through ambiguity, organizational change, and tighttimelines.• Experience working within a matrixed organization and driving alignment acrossmultiple stakeholders
