This is a professional counseling Drug and Alcohol Recovery Program (DARP) Manager position which will carry a caseload of clients as well as provide client monitoring position. DARP Manager will provide supervision to all employees within the DARP, as well as provide supervision to those seeking supervision hours for their D&A certification(s). 

The Manager will perform a variety of duties related to counseling clients with Substance Use Disorders (SUDs) and maintaining documentation of services provided and progress of clients in treatment. Work involves providing counseling, monitoring and management of a caseload of drug and alcohol clients utilizing such skills as behavior modification, group, individual and family counseling, as well as develop treatment plans for client caseload, coordinate services with community support to agencies, and monitor treatment progress. 

The Manager will also be responsible for the ongoing maintenance and development of the DARP, including expansion of services when appropriate and necessary based on client and community needs.

Work involves the preparation of treatment plans, monthly reports, reports to probation and parole officers, and referral letters. Employees in this class may serve as a lead or senior treatment counselor in relation to volunteers, drug and alcohol treatment trainees, and less senior drug and alcohol treatment specialists. 

Supervision is received from the Clinical Director of Outpatient Services through review and guidance on difficult cases, review client case files prior to discharge from program and through weekly discussions. Provides crisis intervention. Work is performed using independent judgment and in conformance with established guidelines.

Requirements

  

1. Counsels, monitors and manages as assigned caseload of drug and alcohol  clients.

2. Interviews clients taking intake notes, evaluations, developing treatment plans, and  writing treatment plans, and updates ongoing counseling notes, referral notes, and discharge summaries.

3. Supervises DARP employees including but not limited to setting expectations for clinical competence, productivity, chart maintenance, work schedules, inter-departmental cooperation, etc.

4. Provides supervision hours for employees needing supervision hours for counselor credentialing.

5. Organizes Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), as well as schedule and run groups.

6. Organizes and runs weekly DARP staffing meetings, inclusive of case consultations, program updates, chart reviews, and other necessary issues relevant to the program.

7. Facilitates and manages ongoing cooperation with the Bradford County Treatment Court and related professionals.

8. Plans and/or conducts family or group counseling. Performs interventions, prevention and referrals appropriate for client needs facilitates referrals to other services such as aftercare, other levels of care and to other outside agencies.

9. Interviews clients to obtain drug and alcohol history and socio-economic information and to develop treatment services plans.

10. Assists in ongoing development of drug and alcohol recovery programming.

11. Meets with community and outside agencies re: DARP opportunities and community/client needs.

12. Provides employees assistance evaluations upon request.

13. Participates in ongoing in-service training programs.

14. The Manager will be proficient in their job position within six (6) months. If at   any time an employee feels they need more training/education, employee is to  submit a request for such through their supervisor, manager, and/or director. 

15. Utilizes NTC’s Electronic Health Records (EHR) during tenure of employment. Initial training and on-going training will be provided to employee by respective supervisor and/or assigned team member. 

16. Additional duties may be added as necessary to meet the needs of the facility.

17. Other functions and duties as assigned. 


  

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

1.  Bachelor’s degree and one year of clinical experience; or an Associate's Degree and

Two (2) years of clinical experience. CADC certification(s) preferred, but not required.

2.  Knowledge of Substance Use Disorder diagnostics, treatment approaches, and interventions.

3.  Staff requirements for certification; HIV, STD, ethics, etc.

4.   Knowledge of treatment facilities and human service agencies providing services to clients with Substance Use Disorder.

5.  Knowledge of crisis intervention methods; individual, family and group counseling techniques; and SUD clients.

6.  Knowledge of the practice and procedures of the criminal justice system in dealing with drug and alcohol related offenders (e.g., treatment court).

7. Ability to develop a therapeutic relationship with clients to gain cooperation and  securing client information, acceptance of treatment plan and participation in counseling sessions.

8. Ability to read, interpret and explain policies and procedures to volunteers and trainees.

9. Ability to conduct individual, group and family counseling sessions.

10. Ability to read and interpret plans, court orders, reports from other treatment facilities, correspondence from clients and other human service agencies.

11. Ability to write and update treatment plans, discharge summaries, daily logs, monthly reports, form letters and correspondences relating to specific clients.

12. Ability to orally evaluate or summarize individual cases, present information at court hearings, counsel clients and provide drug and alcohol information to local groups. Ability to secure appropriate transportation to facilities of site.

13. Good interpersonal and leadership skills, ability to communicate effectively, as well as to work within a team-oriented environment.
