Bullis School seeks an Assistant Transportation Supervisor to provide support in managing all Bullis School vehicles, drivers, and transportation operations. This position assists in planning and overseeing daily and special transportation services to ensure the highest standards of safety, reliability, efficiency, and customer service and collaborates with the Transportation Supervisor and school administration to enhance and expand the transportation program in alignment with the School’s strategic goals.
The hours for this position generally are Monday-Friday 12:30-8:30 p.m. throughout the school year. Summer hours may vary but the position remains full-time.

Duties & Qualifications
Essential Functions
- Assist in the daily supervision and coordination of all transportation operations, including morning and afternoon routes, athletics, and field trips.
- Help manage the scheduling, routing, and dispatching of buses to ensure timely and efficient service.
- Maintain up-to-date route sheets, trip schedules, and driver assignments.
- Support the recruitment, training, and evaluation of transportation staff, ensuring adherence to all safety and licensing requirements.
- Assist in coordinating and conducting bus driver safety training, including defensive driving, emergency response, and student management procedures.
- Conduct periodic ride-along observations and safety checks to ensure compliance with school policies and state/federal regulations.
- Assist in managing vehicle maintenance schedules, inspections, and repair needs, coordinating with service providers as needed.
- Monitor fuel usage, mileage, and vehicle records to ensure accuracy and cost efficiency.
- Serve as a point of contact for transportation-related inquiries, concerns, and scheduling changes.
- Assist with accident reporting, insurance documentation, and follow-up procedures.
- Collaborate with the Business Office and Facilities to support budgeting, purchasing, and long-term planning for fleet upgrades and replacements.
- Support communication with families, faculty, and staff regarding transportation policies, routes, and procedures as directed.
- Serve as backup to the Transportation Supervisor during absences or peak periods.
Other Duties
- Must be willing to work early mornings, late afternoons, and occasional weekends as needed.
- Accessible and available to reach/stay on campus in emergencies or as needed for unforeseen events, including but not limited to snow storms, power outages, storm damage, etc.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Transportation Supervisor or Director of Facilities.
Required Education and Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Minimum of three years experience in school or commercial transportation operations
- Valid Class B CDL Driver’s license with Passenger and School Bus endorsement
- Driving record with no more than one point
- Current Medical Examiners Certificate
- Ability to become and maintain CPR and basic First Aid certification
- Strong knowledge of state and federal transportation regulations, vehicle maintenance, and safety standards
- Proficient in use of transportation software, GPS systems, and Microsoft Office applications
- Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and communication skills
- Demonstrated high degree of reliability
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively and solve problems with little supervision
Compensation and benefits are competitive, with an anticipated annual salary range of $70,000 to $75,000
