About the Department

Performs a variety of technical, administrative, and clerical tasks. Monitors and maintains accurate database information pertaining to the Department of Public Works and Solid Waste Management Division. 

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or successful completion of GED.
• Knowledge of Solid Waste Ordinances.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and have and maintain a satisfactory driver’s record based on the City of Hampton’s criteria.
• Must successfully pass a background check related to this position prior to any offer of employment or promotion. 
• This position is subject to testing for alcohol and controlled substances in accordance with the City of Hampton’s substance abuse policy.

• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Ability to foster harmonious working relationships with diverse populations.
• The incumbent may be considered "essential personnel” during City emergency situations or at the direction of the City Manager which may include long hours and unusual schedules.
