OVERVIEWThe Groundskeeper is responsible for the general upkeep of the main campus, the Crisis Nursery grounds, and the South Sacramento Family Resource Center grounds, including aesthetics, to ensure they are in safe working condition for the children and staff.

 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the grounds in a clean and orderly fashion.
  • Trim bushes and low tree branches, weed and spray for weeds. Remove trash from the main campus, Crisis Nurseries, and South Sacramento Family Resource Center.
  • Ensure the lawns on main campus, at the Crisis Nurseries, and the South Sacramento Family Resource Center are mowed and all of the sidewalks and building areas are trimmed, edged, and blown off.
  • Maintain and repair sprinkler systems to keep them in working order, including setting run times appropriate for the various seasons.
  • Clear sidewalks of debris as needed.
  • Ensure that weed killer, fertilizer, and all other chemicals are handled, applied, and stored in a safe manner.
  • Clean and maintain all equipment, machinery, and tools on a regular basis and report damage and defects to the Facilities Manager.
  • Inspect and clean up the work area upon completion of the work order.
  • Maintain grounds maintenance tools and equipment and report the need to repair to the Facilities Manager.
  • Work with other Maintenance personnel on projects as needed.
  • Periodically make preventative grounds maintenance inspections, properly record inspection, and inform the Facilities Manager
  • Set up chairs and tables for meetings and special events.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

SCHEDULE:   Mon-Fri 8:00am - 12:00pm

 

 

SALARY:         $21.26 - $23.90 per hour, to start

Qualifications


Education and Experience:

 

A high school diploma or GED is required. Landscaping and groundskeeping experience is preferred.

 

Driving is an essential function of this job, and as such, employees in this position will be required to furnish their own vehicle to be used in the course of employment. A valid CA driver’s license and minimum insurance coverage is required.

 

Must be at least 21 years old

 

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.

Knowledge of and ability to use and operate various power tools, hand tools, and garden equipment.

Knowledge of safety procedures.

Knowledge of basic mathematics, including addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication.

Skill to plan and organize multiple tasks at one time.

Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally

Good organizational skills.

Ability to maintain a safe working environment.

Ability to report to work on a regular and reliable basis.
