In addition to the current opening, this recruitment may be used to establish a pool of qualified candidates to fill future Leaves management career service positions within the Wastewater Treatment Division or throughout the Department of Natural Resources & Parks (DNRP) over the next six (6) months.

Position Duties
What You Will Be Doing:
Provide Division - wide consultation of all King County leaves programs, involving Federal Medical Leave (FMLA), King County Family Medical Leave (KCFML), Paid Parental Leave (PPL), Washington Paid Family Medical Leave (WAPFML), workers compensation, transitional duty, and workplace accommodations. Ensure that the division complies with requirements of the FMLA, KCFML, ADA, WAPFML and others. Provide training resources.
Serve as Protected Leaves Management Administrator. Determine eligibility for FMLA/KCFML/PPL; Consult with employees and management, track leave usage, and coordinate with payroll to ensure accurate coding and manage leave donations.
Manage the comprehensive division-wide leave administration program that integrates FMLA/KCFML, WAPFML, PPL, workers compensation, transitional duty, workplace accommodations, Federal Law, State Law, union contracts, applicable County policies and ordinances and other related programs or systems.
Implement and maintain any necessary leave administration databases and provide recurring and special metrics and reports.
Partner with King County Department of Human Resources Disability Services to administer the interactive/accommodations process. Facilitate meetings with leadership and other internal agencies for the reassignment and/or medical separation process.
Serve as division/ department human resources liaison with other county departments, Prosecuting Attorney' s Office, external agencies, and union business representatives, as related to worker disability and leave issues.
Utilize tools such as Word, Excel, SharePoint, NeoGov, Peoplesoft, Laserfiche, and PowerBI to create and maintain documents, spreadsheets, tracking tools, and records management.
Minimum Qualifications
Qualifications You Bring:
- Increasingly responsible and full-cycle experience processing and managing protected leaves, including disability accommodation requests and the Family and Medical Leave Act.
- Applied knowledge of Local, State and Federal Leave laws ( e.g., KCFML, WAPFML, ADA, FMLA), employment laws and regulations.
Experience advising, coaching, and training. Skill in providing programmatic information to affected employees in a sensitive and effective way.
Skill in effective time management and the ability to work daily in a fast-paced environment with multiple competing priorities and sensitive situations.
Intermediate skills using Human Resource Information Systems and data visualization tools (e.g., PeopleSoft, PowerBi).
Intermediate skills using Microsoft programs for document and spreadsheet production, presentation development, project management, and data analysis (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and SharePoint).

Working Conditions:
- Work Location: The Human Resource team works in a hybrid model, with days in the office as well as telecommuting. The ratio of remote to onsite work will be dependent on business needs and is subject to change. The primary onsite location is the Collaboration space at King Street Center, 201 S. Jackson, Seattle, Washington 98104, other onsite reporting locations will include: West Point Treatment Plant, 1400 Discovery Park Blvd. Seattle, South Treatment Plant 1200 Monster Road S.W., Renton, Brightwater Treatment Plant 22505 State Route 9 S.E., Woodinville.
- Requirement: Employees must reside in Washington State and be within a reasonable distance to King County worksites to meet onsite reporting requirements.
- King County has a robust collection of tools and resources to support working remotely. The individual selected for this opportunity will join an innovative and progressive team that is redefining how we work as we transition to the department's hybrid environment. Employees will be provided with a County-issued laptop and must maintain a home workspace with an internet connection where they can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours.
- Work Schedule: This position is exempt from the overtime provision of the Fair Labor Standard Act (FLSA) and is not overtime eligible.
