Art Assistant

Schedule: Monday through Friday either 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM or 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM
No previous experience in behavioral health services? No problem! We'll provide you the training you need.

What you’ll do:
- Understands and models the philosophy of the art program.
- Takes a person centered (individualized) approach toward the individuals who participate in the art program.
- Objectively demonstrates artistic techniques to individuals clearly and precisely.
- Offers objective advice and mentoring to enable individuals to complete work.
- Ensures enough high quality art is produced to stock quarterly art shows.
- Assists in preparation of artwork for sales (matting framing etc.).
- Attends evening and weekend events as required.
- Assists in developing community contacts with artists, galleries, etc.
- Engages individuals in community activities (including Community Pottery program) and transports them as required.
- Photographs and archives artist’s work.
- Keeps records of all art sales.
- Networks with a diverse section of the community.
- Works a flexible schedule, as required.
- Organizes and inventories materials in the art studio.
- Purchases materials as needed.
- Develops sound and creative ideas under limited supervision.
- Demonstrates willingness and ability to gain new skills.
Qualifications
What you need:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Possess a valid driver’s license for a minimum of two consecutive years
- Pass criminal record and healthcare registry check
- Pass driving record check if providing transportation
- Associates degree in arts related field or combination of relevant education/experience required for this position. Must have a strong personal portfolio and demonstrate a successful track record of working in an arts related field.
- Commitment to achieve competency in required knowledge, skills, and abilities
- Note: Current First Aid/CPR blended or classroom certification is required. If you do not currently have certification from an approved provider, our American Red Cross certified instructors will provide you the training.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds independently (per policy)
