Yusen Terminals LLC (“YTI,” based in Terminal Island (Los Angeles), CA, is wholly owned by Ocean Network Express (ONE), with office headquarters in Singapore. 

YTI operates a state-of-the-art marine container terminal in the Port of Los Angeles. YTI was established in 1991 at the Port’s Berths 212-218. The services we provide are stevedoring and terminal operations for Premier Alliance (ONE, HMM and Yang Ming lines) as well as slot chartering from Evergreen, CMA-CGM, APL, COSCO and OOCL. We also have independent vessel operators Cool Carrier and Hapag Lloyd.  As a full-service marine terminal, YTI provides modern technology, equipment, on-dock rail, storage facilities and Alternative Maritime Power (AMP®). YTI’s highly experienced management team are devoted to efficient cargo handling with a focus on service delivery and customer satisfaction. We currently operate 10 Post Panamax Gantry cranes including 6 state-of-the-art Super Post Panamax Gantry cranes. Overview:

Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, the Controller will lead our Nashville team and oversee all aspects of the company’s accounting operations. This role will lead an accounting team encompassing Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll, and General Accounting functions. The position will have direct management responsibility of the following: Accounting Manager, Senior Billing & AR Manager, (2) Payroll Specialists and indirectly manages (8) indirect reports.

The ideal candidate is a strategic financial leader with proven experience managing remote teams and collaborating with international ownership or subsidiaries. This individual must demonstrate exceptional accuracy, organization, and high attention to detail, ensuring the integrity and reliability of all financial reporting.

What you will do:

• All employees have the responsibility to plan and execute our work in ways that prevent injuries.  It is an expectation we lead by example and require all employees to adhere to our safety procedures.

• Oversee all accounting operations, including AR, AP, Payroll, and General Ledger.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing remote accounting team, ensuring collaboration and accountability across time zones.
• Manage the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes with accuracy and timeliness.
• Serve as the primary liaison for external auditors and manage the annual audit process end-to-end.
• Develop, document, and implement robust accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and relevant financial regulations.
• Collaborate with international owners or subsidiaries on financial reporting, intercompany transactions, and consolidation processes.
• Partner with cross-functional business leaders to identify and implement automation opportunities that streamline accounting transactions, enhance reporting accuracy, and eliminate manual processes.
• Utilize Power BI, Power Pivot, and advanced Excel capabilities to design dashboards, analyze data, and support strategic decision-making.
• Identify and execute continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen accounting operations and internal controls.
• Oversee tax compliance, reporting, and other financial filings as required.

 What you will bring:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA strongly preferred.
• 15+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 5+ years in leadership.
• Proven experience managing and leading remote accounting teams.
• Required experience working with international ownership structures or subsidiaries.
• Required experience in the maritime or terminal operations industry.
• Extensive experience managing external audit processes.
• Strong technical knowledge of GAAP and internal control frameworks.
• Demonstrated ability to draft and implement accounting processes and policies.
• Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
• High level of integrity, discretion, and ethical standards in handling confidential information

• Ability to work comfortably with executive leaders, cross-functional teams, or remote teams to achieve business goals
• Demonstrated people skills necessary to coordinate the flow of information to and from staff who possess varying levels of experience
• Ability to bring data to life in a clear, concise, and easy-to-understand presentation

• Demonstrated ability to lead teams and collaborate cross-functionally in a highly unstructured environment
• Advanced proficiency in Excel, including Power BI, Power Pivot, and complex data modeling.
• Proven success in driving automation and process improvement across accounting functions.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and analytical abilities.
• Experience with ERP/accounting systems required.

 $170,000 - $200,000 + Bonus
