The Clinical Manager provides supervision, direction and leadership to the acute care nursing units in accordance with organizational and departmental standards, procedures and goals as well as all applicable local, state, federal and accrediting agency regulations.
Responsibilities and Duties
Ensures quality patient care is delivered following the standards of care/pathways, including patient safety goals and regulatory requirements.
Actively participates in the hospital Pl process.
Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates delivery of nursing care and sets nursing standards for patient care.
Attends meetings and committees as required.
Maintains accurate reports and data for quality and performance reporting.
Hires, counsels, and evaluates the performance of employees and keeps the Director informed.
Develops yearly department goals and objectives that are aligned with hospital and organizational goals.
Assesses professional growth of employees.
Identifies needs and develops provisions to meet educational goals, utilizing internal and external educational resources. Initiates corrective actions as necessary.
Serves as a liaison between physicians and service lines to facilitate smooth operations of the unit and a multidisciplinary approach to patient care.
Ensures patient throughput, including admissions, transfers, and discharges that are accurate and timely.
Education
Bachelors Nursing (BSN) is required.
Experience
5 years of healthcare/medical nurse staff experience with progressive clinical management skills is required.
Certification & Licensures
Licensed as a Registered Nurse in Virginia is required.
BLS Certification (Basic Life Support) - American Heart 'Healthcare Provider' (HCP) - AHA approved required. New hires must have American Heart Association (AHA) appropriate certification prior to completion of orientation.
ACLS Certification (Advanced Life Support) is required.
Qualifications
Ability to staff and physician relationships, productivity and process improvement programs, and database management.
Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills, well developed interpersonal skills, including group facilitation.
Demonstrates ability to be creative, innovative, and flexible in responding to rapidly changing needs and priorities.
Knowledgeable in the cognitive, physical, emotional and chronological stages of human growth and development.
Competent to provide assessment, care and treatment to patients served.
