A brief look at what you’ll do as an Executive Sous Chef at bartaco: 


As an Executive Sous Chef at bartaco, you will play a key leadership role in the kitchen, working closely with the Executive Chef and the management team to uphold and elevate our culinary standards. You will drive daily operations, mentor and develop the culinary team, ensure executional excellence, and help maintain bartaco’s high standards for quality, presentation, and hospitality. You will serve as a cultural ambassador and operational leader, setting the tone for energy, collaboration, and growth. 


Guest Experience: 

Be relentlessly guest-focused, ensuring every dish that leaves the kitchen meets our taste, quality, and presentation standards 

Oversee the flow of service, ensuring kitchen operations run smoothly, efficiently, and with urgency ? Lead by example during peak shifts, embodying hospitality and attentiveness while maintaining pace and precision 


Culinary Team Leadership: 

Serve as a leader, coach, and mentor—cultivating a culture of development, accountability, and mutual respect 

Support the growth of Sous Chefs, Line Cooks, Prep Cooks, and Dish team members through hands-on training and consistent feedback 

Promote team morale and drive performance through recognition, clear communication, and emotional intelligence ? Manage kitchen scheduling, ensuring proper staffing levels while supporting work-life balance and team well-being ? Participate in hiring and onboarding, identifying top culinary talent who align with the bartaco culture and standards 


Operational + Culinary Excellence:

Own execution of daily prep, line checks, quality control, and cleanliness standards 

Manage food safety, sanitation, and cleanliness protocols to ensure a spotless and compliant kitchen at all times ? Drive financial performance by managing inventory, controlling food cost, reducing waste, and analyzing kitchen data ? Assist in menu rollouts, recipe execution, and special events—ensuring consistency and alignment with bartaco’s vision 

Partner with the FOH to create a cohesive and elevated guest experience

Requirements: 

3 years of culinary management experience 

A culinary arts degree is preferred, but not required 

Excellent cooking skills 

Experience mentoring and training hourly team members 

Attention to detail and problem-solving skills 

Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays 


Physical Skills: 

Bring an energetic hustle and positive attitude to every shift 

Able to tolerate long periods working on foot/standing up 

Able to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds 

Able to work in a kitchen environment that may result in exposure to heat or cold
