JOB SUMMARY

Position Title: Transitional Housing-Rapid Rehousing Specialist

Program: Domestic Violence Services

Classification: Non-Exempt/Full-Time

The Transitional Housing-Rapid Rehousing (TH-RRH) Advocate coordinates crisis/emergency housing and connection to safe, affordable permanent housing for domestic violence survivors. The Advocate will provide trauma-informed, client-centered supportive services and referrals.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Direct Client Services:

  • Coordinate entry of DV survivors experiencing homelessness to TH/crisis housing units.
  • Provide trauma-informed safety planning, supportive services, and referrals to survivors.
  • Assist survivors to develop housing and economic goal plans (service plans) in preparation for their move to permanent housing.
  • Connect survivors to safe, affordable permanent housing options.
  • Continue to provide supportive services to survivors receiving RRH rental assistance.

Advocacy:

  • Identify and communicate systemic barriers and challenges to housing access for DV survivors.
  • Perform individual and systems advocacy with landlords, rental companies and related housing partners on behalf of DV survivors.

Teamwork/Collaboration:

  • Member of the DVS Housing Team, which coordinates the continuum of housing options.
  • Attend community housing-related meetings as assigned.
  • Assist with weekend/holiday on-call transitional housing coverage per DVS policies.

TH Site Management

  • Coordinate and monitor DVS TH rental units.
  • Perform apartment inspections per CoC/HUD guidelines.
  • Perform periodic apartment checks for compliance with program guidelines.
  • Ensure apartments are adequately furnished and equipped for occupancy.

Accountability/Compliance:

  • Coordinate and submit RRH/permanent rental assistance requests.
  • Maintain client files and data per agency and funder requirements.
  • Review and maintain up to date TH-RRH policies and procedures.
  • Fulfill reporting requirements per guidelines set by the agency and funders.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in the social services or related field is preferred.
  • 2-5 years of experience working with housing services is required.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience is accepted.
