Kitchen Supervisor - Private School Cafeteria Kitchen
Location: 39 Fernhill Ave., Ross, CA 94957
Hourly Pay: $28-$29 per hour
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00 am-4:00 pm
Your Impact:
We are seeking a hands-on Kitchen Supervisor to lead and support our culinary operations in a fast-paced, high-volume school dining environment. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys being both on the floor during service and managing the broader aspects of kitchen operations—including staff development, menu planning, and administrative responsibilities.
You will play a key leadership role in ensuring that over 500 nutritious, high-quality meals are prepared, served, and presented efficiently each day for our middle and high school students.
What You'll Do
Support the Chef and team during the busy lunch service, assisting with food preparation, replenishing buffet lines, and maintaining cleanliness and organization in the service area.
Supervise the setup, service, and cleanup of the lunch period, ensuring an efficient flow for students and staff.
Oversee dishwashing operations, including proper sanitization, organization of kitchenware, and delegation of cleaning responsibilities.
Maintain compliance with food safety and sanitation standards (HACCP, ServSafe, etc.).
Leadership & Management
Lead by example to foster a positive, team-oriented work environment.
Supervise, train, and coach kitchen staff to uphold high standards of quality, efficiency, and teamwork.
Conduct employee performance evaluations and support professional growth opportunities.
Participate in hiring and onboarding of new culinary team members.
Assist in scheduling and workload management to ensure adequate coverage during peak times.
Administrative & Strategic Responsibilities
Collaborate with the Chef and management team on menu planning, production schedules, and recipe execution.
Monitor and manage food and supply inventory; place and track orders to ensure cost-effective purchasing.
Review production records, waste logs, and service feedback to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
Assist in developing and implementing process improvements and operational strategies.
Support compliance with all company, client, and regulatory standards.
What You Will Bring
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in hospitality management or food service preferred
- Ace culinary skills and knowledge--catering background highly preferred, but not mandatory
- A strong commitment to scratch cooking and using fresh, quality ingredients
- Thorough knowledge of food safety standards and regulations
- Proficiency in inventory control and cost management
- Strong computer skills
- Strong understanding of finances
- Solid interpersonal skills
- Experience working with students/in a school setting preferred, but not a deal-breaker
- Excellence at building connections and strengthening bonds between staff and external partners
- ServSafe® Certification and State Food Handlers Card
- Certification in Culinary Arts or Kitchen Management is advantageous
