The Public Relations Coordinator develops and implements comprehensive communication and public relations strategies to enhance New Vista’s visibility, strengthen community trust, and protect the organization’s brand reputation. This role supports media relations, community engagement, and strategic initiatives that advance New Vista’s mission. The coordinator serves as a key liaison between New Vista and the public, ensuring the organization is recognized as a leader in behavioral health, prevention, and community well-being.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree with five years of public relations, community engagement, communications, marketing or business development experience
- Valid Kentucky driver’s license, reliable transportation and proof of auto insurance
Preferred Education and Experience
- Master’s degree in business or health related field
- Three years of experience in public relations, community engagement, communications, marketing or related experience

- Collaborate with senior leadership to design and execute effective public relations and community engagement strategies that strengthen organizational awareness and impact
- Develop and maintain relationships with media, schools, municipalities, law enforcement, the judicial system, legislators, nonprofits, and other key stakeholders to enhance visibility and support business development
- Draft, edit, and distribute press releases, talking points, speeches, and other communication materials that effectively communicate New Vista’s mission, programs, and impact
- Serve as a media contact — respond to inquiries, pitch stories, coach staff for interviews, and ensure consistent, positive representation of the organization
- Develop and maintain content for internal and external communications, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and alignment with New Vista’s brand standards
- Support crisis communications efforts by helping prepare timely, coordinated responses under the direction of senior leadership
- Monitor and protect the organization’s brand reputation by ensuring all public-facing materials, media coverage, and digital communications reflect New Vista’s values, tone, and standards. Proactively identify potential risks to the organization’s image and recommend strategies to address them
- Partner with the Marketing and Community Engagement teams to plan, attend, and coordinate New Vista’s presence at community events, including logistics, staffing, and promotional materials
- Maintain an understanding of all New Vista programs and services to identify opportunities for collaboration, partnerships, and community awareness
- Design and implement innovative corporate and community engagement initiatives that promote year-round visibility and internal engagement
- Maintain and update databases of key stakeholders, community groups, and media contacts to support outreach and engagement efforts
- Assist with social media management (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.) to ensure alignment with overall PR and marketing strategies
- Coordinate the creation, printing, and distribution of promotional materials by working with internal teams, vendors, and printers
- Contribute to the creation of organizational publications such as the Annual Report and newsletters, ensuring they accurately reflect New Vista’s values and impact
- Serve as spokesperson for the organization when needed, communicating clearly and effectively with the public and media
