JOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible for enlisting, maintaining, and assuring protocol compliance for all patients on clinical trials. Collaborates with physicians in determining eligibility of patients for clinical trials. Provides education for staff and patients. Ensures site research quality by practicing in compliance with Cancer Care Northwest Research (CCNWR) Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), principles of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and applicable federal, state, and local regulations. Supports and adheres to the Cancer Care Northwest Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each of the essential duties/responsibilities listed below. - Screens potential patients for protocol eligibility. Presents trial concepts and details to the patients, participates in the informed consent process, and enrolls patients on protocol.
- Coordinates patient care in compliance with protocol requirements. May disburse investigational drug and provide patient teaching regarding administration. Maintains investigational drug accountability.
- In collaboration with the physician, assist in monitoring the health and responses of a patient during a new drug or therapy trial, recording physical assessments and vital signs, administering the investigated compounds or therapies, along with coordinating research activities. reviews patients for changes in condition, adverse events, concomitant medication use, protocol compliance, response to study drug and thoroughly documents all findings.
- Responsible for accurate and timely data collection, documentation, entry, and reporting. Schedules and participates in monitoring and auditing activities.
- Maintains regulatory documents in accordance with CCNWR SOP and applicable regulations.
- Participates in required training and education programs. Responsible for education of clinic staff regarding clinical research.
- Collaborate with Research Site Leader in the study selection process when necessary.
- Works directly with other (non-CCNWR) research bases and/or sponsors when necessary.
- Provides a safe environment for patients, families, and clinical staff at all time through compliance with all federal, state, and professional regulatory standards as issued through OSHA and the CDC. Maintains strict patient confidentiality according to HIPAA regulations and applicable law.
- Performs all other duties/responsibilities as necessary or assigned.
MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must meet the minimum qualifications listed below. These qualifications are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required to perform this job.
Formal Education, Certification/Licensure, and Prior Experience: to perform this job successfully, an individual must have:
- Current RN Washington license
- Bachelors degree
- Previous Oncology Experience
- Current BLS or ACLS certification for nurses
It is preferred that an individual has:
- SoCRA or ACRP certification

Base Salary DOE - $40.70 - $63.49
