Description

General Statement of Duties: This position is responsible for maintaining accurate records by performing a variety of maintenance functions, including establishing and updating accounts, processing and balancing transactions and reviewing reports for accuracy. The bookkeeper provides customer service and support for daily banking operations. Upholding customer confidentiality is a must.

Working Hours are 8:30am-5:00pm Monday through Friday and every sixth Saturday from 7:30am-11:00am.

Qualifications


Essential Job Functions:

  • Loads new account information to the system and does file maintenance on existing accounts.
  • Reviews new accounts to ensure accuracy.
  • Uploads scans to system for new and existing accounts.
  • Reviews stop payment suspects daily.
  • Enters decisions to pay or return NSF items and accurately corrects un-post items.
  • Keys Cross-App for department and branches.
  • Reviews prior day Cross-App transactions for entry errors.
  • Keys transactions for new loans, backdates, reversals for department and branches.
  • Prints, sorts and distributes various reports, notices & documents to designated bank personnel.
  • Prepares, breaks down and disseminates incoming and outgoing bags for couriers throughout the day.
  • Balances a variety of accounts and reports on a daily basis.
  • Reviews & approves statement files to be processed and prints & distributes statement excludes to be held at the branches.
  • Checks and files various reports/forms/signature cards/CDs in accordance with record retention guidelines.
  • Files proof work in bookkeeping vault and shreds proof work in accordance with record retention guidelines.
  • Reviews & processes mobile deposits.
  • Assists customers with online banking logins, questions, messages, etc.
  • Performs research for customer accounts, including investigating transactions, reprinting statements, etc.
  • Answers the main phone line, as well as provides phone support for branches and customers.
  • Processes mail from Vienna Main and Datacenter daily.
  • Maintains departmental appearance, both personal and general.
  • Serves customers in a cordial and professional manner to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Cross-sells bank services to customers.
  • Takes advantage of opportunities to promote the Bank when involved in voluntary community activities and civic organizations to cross sell the Bank’s products and services.
  • Completes all work neatly and accurately.
  • Assists in other areas of the bank as needed.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.
  • Follows bank policies and procedures, including state and federal regulations at all times.

Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One year prior bookkeeping experience preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of the bank’s departmental operations, policies, and procedures preferred.
  • Prior experience in a customer service environment preferred.
  • Experience with PCs, calculators, and other standard office equipment preferred.
  • Prior experience working within a team environment preferred.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for accuracy with numbers.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, meet deadlines, manage multiple tasks, and work under pressure.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for learning new policies and procedures.
  • Ability to concentrate on complex projects.
  • Excellent human relations/customer service skills to effectively interact with customers and co-workers.
