Now Hiring: Registered Nurse (RN) – Make Healing Possible for Children Who Need It Most

Location:       Pathways Youth and Family Services in San Antonio, TX with local travel to Mountain Home, TX

Schedule:      Full-time, flexible hours with ability to work some evenings, weekends and holidays, position is on-call 24-hours per day

We’re looking for a Registered Nurse (RN) who is ready to go beyond traditional nursing – someone who can bring both clinical expertise and compassion to support children and youth with mental, behavioral, and developmental needs in our General Residential Operation (GRO) program.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide compassionate nursing care for children and youth in a residential environment.
  • Assess, monitor, and coordinate health needs – from routine checkups to emergencies.
  • Create and implement individualized care plans with our multidisciplinary team.
  • Lead medication administration and train staff on safe, trauma-informed care practices.
  • Support youth with complex behavioral and developmental challenges through direct care and education.
  • Serve as a trusted medical voice on our treatment team, ensuring continuity of care and compliance with state and agency standards.

What We’re Looking For

  • Current Texas RN license (BSN preferred).
  • Experience working with children, youth, or individuals with mental health or developmental disabilities.
  • Strong communication, organization, and crisis-response skills.
  • Passion for helping children heal and thrive.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Proficiency in electronic medical record (EMR) systems and data management.

 

Requirements

  • Valid Texas driver’s license, reliable transportation, and current auto insurance.
  • Successful completion of background and drug screening.
  • With or without reasonable accommodation, the physical and mental requirements of this job may include the following: seeing, hearing, speaking, and writing clearly and frequently.  Manual dexterity for examining children and working with medical equipment and a computer. Occasional reaching with hands and arms. Stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, frequent sitting, standing and walking, may be required for long periods and may involve climbing stairs, walking up inclines, and on uneven terrain. Additional physical requirements may include, frequent lifting and or moving up to 25 pounds. Ability to interact with clients and families in a professional manner and keep calm in stressful situations. Ability to react appropriately in emergency/crisis situations.
