Job Description

This role involves the design and implementation of technical software architectures for major retailers, combining software and data expertise to deliver scalable, secure solutions aligned with business goals. The Software Solutions Architect uses knowledge of retail operations, systems integration, and data-driven technologies to drive innovation and efficiency in various projects.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with Technical product development

  • Determine Technical solution architecture components

  • Technical solution creation

  • Special projects as required (large tenders, solutions or client requirements)

  • Technology advisory and review

  • Create market driven solutions to grow the business

  • Develop ROI and economic models to justify investments in Altron proposed solutions in order to grow the business

  • Develop proposals and pricing models for innovative solutions

  • Assess outputs from service delivery teams to assure deliverables satisfy quality standards.

  • Identify areas of product and service activity pursued by competitors, which ADB currently engages in or should engage in

  • Contribute content to executive and/or management summary

  • Compile bid documents and technical responses for tenders

  • Collaborate with internal subject matter experts and technical architects to devise client solutions

  • Penetrate and expand accounts through sales and operational strategic account solution plans

  • Involve in quarterly account plan table-top reviews

  • Take the lead in your technical area

  • Gather expertise across the ADB

  • Proactively identify opportunities for both existing and new professional services and solutions across all sales engines and accounts

  • Develop and distribute relevant professional services and solution offerings thought leadership and marketing material to account leads

  • Be a subject matter expert with a full understanding of the market dynamics

  • Communicate, liaise, and negotiate internally and externally using appropriate methods to facilitate the development of profitable business and sustainable relationships

  • Determine problem domain and record in design solution documents

  • Determine technical risk and issues and suggest mitigation options

  • Coordinate with Sales, Business Development and Account Manager to pursue sales cycles

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • 5+ years software solution architecture experience

  • 5+ years IT operational/Service Delivery experience

  • 5+ years developing software solutions experience

  • 2 -3 years Retail Software Solutions experience

  • 2 -3 years experience in Customer Relations/Client Management

  • 2 -3 years experience with Cloud solutions

  • Exposure to major accounts and major projects

  • Exposure to major RFP’s / Tenders

  • Report analysis

  • ITIL

  • Agile Methodology (SAFe is preferred)

  • Project management methodologies

  • Managing vendors

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • NQF6 or Relevant National Diploma 3yrs

  • Computer Science or Relevant degree (advantageous)

Technical Skills

  • Knowledge of business analysis best practice

  • Knowledge of front and back-office systems and infrastructure

  • Thorough understanding of Architecture design; ability to see the big picture and conceptualise and document creative solutions

  • Strong problem-solving capability

  • Excellent technical architecture and technical support documentation skills

  • Ability to conduct research into emerging technologies and trends, standards, and products as required

  • Experience in Customer Relations/Client Management

  • Capable of hands-on problem solving, with ability to generate ideas and solutions

  • A positive and determined approach to researching and analysing new business opportunities
