JOB SUMMARY
The Produce and Floral Merchandising Specialist supports approximately 20 stores, serving as the critical link between their department's merchandising team, Category Managers, and Store Operations. This role is responsible for executing weekly and seasonal merchandising plans, maintaining consistent merchandising standards, ensuring consistent use of Production Planning, coaching and training store department teammates, and ensuring standard practices are followed to optimize product presentation and maintain proper inventory levels (PI).
Teammates in this role will be required to work 2 Saturdays and 1 Sunday per month. Teammates will also be required to work one opening shift and one closing shift each week.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Execute weekly and seasonal merchandising plans across approximately 20 stores, ensuring alignment with Schnucks’ commercial objectives, promotional strategies, and category plans.
Create and maintain store-specific mappings to streamline planning, optimize space utilization, and simplify execution.
Ensure merchandising initiatives align with customer expectations and enhance their shopping experience by delivering the value messaging and brand story of Schnucks.
Create and implement visually appealing displays that attract customers, highlight key promotions, seasonal themes, and product benefits, while creating a seamless shopping experience.
Partner with store teams to maintain planogram set integrity, as well as visual appeal and functionality of displays, ensuring they remain fresh and engaging throughout their lifecycle.
Maintain and enforce the published merchandising standards for product placement, product levels, department flow, signage, and displays to ensure a cohesive and consistent customer experience.
Coach and train store teammates on adhering to Production Planning, maintaining proper inventory levels through RIO and the merchandising standards, minimizing out-of-stocks, and ensuring product availability for customers.
Monitor inventory levels of displays and escalate issues promptly to the supply chain, inventory management, and category management teams.
Ensure compliance with Food Safety best practices.
Act as the voice of the customer by providing actionable feedback to category managers, Fresh merchandising department VPs and Directors, sharing insights on customer behavior, preferences, and merchandising performance.
Identify and recommend improvements to enhance customer engagement, display plans, and visual merchandising efforts.
Monitor the provided standardized performance metrics and provide regular updates and coaching on execution progress, challenges, and best practices across assigned stores.
Provide appreciation and opportunities recap to store and department leaders for awareness and action planning.
Train and coach store teams on systems and processes for maintaining a consistently fresh, visually appealing department for the best customer experience; appropriately rotating, culling, and marking down products.
Support store leadership by providing guidance to enhance operational excellence and shopper engagement.
Work closely with category managers, supply chain, and marketing to ensure merchandising plans are customer-centric, actionable, and aligned with overall business objectives.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Required Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field preferred, or equivalent retail/merchandising experience.
Minimum Years of Experience: 3 to 5 years; 3+ years of experience in retail merchandising, visual merchandising, or store operations.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge
Strong understanding of retail operations, inventory management, and merchandising principles.
Knowledge of visual merchandising techniques and their impact on shopper engagement and sales performance.
P&L management.
Skills & Abilities
Foster collaboration and accountability within store teammates to maintain consistent and high-quality execution across all locations.
Work with department managers in support of developing teammates identified in department succession plans.
Work closely with category managers, supply chain, and marketing to ensure merchandising plans are customer-centric, actionable, and aligned with overall business objectives.
Collaborate with other Field Merchants to share insights, solutions, and opportunities for improvement across the network.
Provide direct support for any crisis management situations (ie. power outages).
Proficiency in managing multiple locations and implementing merchandising plans across diverse stores.
