Software Engineer III

As a CPI Software Engineer III, you will play a critical role developing moderately complex software. You will also create and execute designs for small sets of new functionality.  This role will be highly involved with the design, analysis, validation and documentation of both standard and custom software products.

As a CPI Software Engineer III, you will occupy a key role in working with and for a company that builds the physical infrastructure that powers, protects and secures the world’s digital technology.  

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Responsibility for carrying out software maintenance and software enhancement activities on legacy projects.
  2. Demonstrates the ability to develop software solutions for assigned tasks, appropriately utilizing good software design principles, best practices and production specifications.  Rigorously reviews own work.
  3. Develops software in C, C++, C# or other selected languages for products and/or applications following coding standards and in accordance with the software development methodology and release process.
  4. Follows standard software QA practices to establish and develop test plans and procedures for unit level code and integration with hardware and other subsystems.
  5. Contribution towards design/code peer review, and ensuring best practice is followed.
  6. Recognizes and raises issues and proposes solutions for assigned tasks.  Informs team of issues early enough to allow mitigating actions.  Provides alternatives and recommendations.
  7. Leads the analysis, design, and development on projects and is technical subject matter expert on software products under development.
  8. Provide direction, mentorship, and support to less senior software engineers.
  9. Attends and contributes in formal design reviews.
  10. Provides the proper documentation throughout the stages of the design.
  11. As part of the design release process, prepares and transfers appropriate information to manufacturing, field service and technical publishing.
  12. Provides continuing technical support for field service, manufacturing, sales and marketing.
  13. Communicates effectively with lead engineer, cross functional teams and vendors.
  14. Tracks and reports status of assigned tasks, reporting progress to team lead and/or Core Team.  Meets multiple deadlines and objectives, setting priorities with moderate coaching.

Technical Competencies:

 

  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience.
  • Proficiency developing and troubleshooting complex software systems that run in mixed-environments including Linux, and/or Windows
  • Must have knowledge of C/C++, C#, LUA, SQL databases, multi-tasking operating systems and real-time embedded software.
  • Demonstrable troubleshooting skills.
  • Other preferred experiences include familiarity with electronic hardware and test instruments.

 

PHYSICAL/ENVIORNMENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Works on computer majority of the day.
  • Ability to life up to 25 lbs. to move file boxes, etc. as needed.
  • Some travel may be required both by automobile and airplane.
