Description

PURPOSE OF POSITION

Directs the activities of the Slots by either performing the following duties personally or though subordinates.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

Reports Directly to:   

General Manager

Supervises Directly:   

Slot Department Personnel

 

Other Important Contacts:     

All Department Managers and Directors, General Manager, vendors and other casino personnel.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

  1. Oversees the activities of the Slot Department.

  2. Participates in formulating and administering company policies and developing long-range goals and objectives for the Slot Department.  Develop and implement floor design/layout.

  3. Responsible for purchasing gaming equipment.

  4. Assist player development.

  5. Ensure compliance to Tribal, Local/State, Federal, and NIGC regulations.

  6. Ensure control/protection of company assets.

  7. Develop and review analyses of activities, costs, operations, and forecast data to determine departmental progress toward stated goals and objectives.

  8. Hire and develop staff in the areas of customer service, hospitality and policies and procedures.

  9. Selects, hires, trains, evaluates, terminates, and recommends salary increases for managers, assistant managers and supervisors.          

  10. Create, implement and assess training programs.  

  11. Start and complete projects on or before deadline.

  12. Monitor and adjust staffing levels.

  13. Responsible for preparing and monitoring Slot Department budget.

Qualifications


QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  1. Experience working on the casino floor in the area of slot operations.

  2. Must be able to obtain and maintain valid Class III gaming licenses from the Nooksack Gaming Commission and the Washington State Gambling Commission. 

  3. Excellent organizational, communication and leadership skills.

  4. Work nights, weekends and holidays as required.

  5. Employment is contingent upon a favorable outcome of a background investigation.              

Preferred:

  1. At least five years management experience in the casino industry.

  2. A combination of education and experience in various casino departments.

  14. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  1. Knowledge of technical aspects of Video Lottery Terminal/Slots machines.

  2. Knowledge of gaming equipment and purchasing requirements.

  3. Knowledge of policies and procedures of various casino games.

  4. Knowledge of a 24-hour, 7 day a week operation.

  5. Skill in developing, implementing, coordinating and monitoring functions related to promotions and special events.

  6. Skill in floor design of table games and VLT’s.

  7. Skill in effectively communicating information through verbal and written correspondence to employees, managers, clients, customers and the general public, including writing reports, business correspondence and procedural manuals.

  8. Skill in solving practical problems and dealing with situations where only limited standardization exists.

  9. Skill in assessing operation, program, staffing and fiscal needs.

  10. Skill in identifying and resolving administrative problems under pressure conditions.

  11. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability, fractions, percentages and ratios to practical solutions.

  12. Ability to analyze and solve complex management problems having nonstandard solutions.

  13. Ability to establish procedures for the effective implementation of General Managers decisions to prepare complex reports, correspondence, charts, layouts, forms, handbooks, memoranda and other information and instructions.

  14. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with public officials, department heads, associates and the public.
