POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Vice President, Child & Family Programs will provide strategic leadership for Akin’s Early Learning, Family Navigation Services, Family Impact, Health Care Integration, and Housing Support Services. This role ensures families have access to high-quality, relationship-centered, and coordinated programs by strengthening results and shaping a statewide model for family well-being.
Reporting to the Chief Programs Officer, the VP will oversee program design, delivery, evaluation, and continuous improvement while centering equity and lived experience in all initiatives. This position will also have, as necessary, access to paper and electronic protected healthcare information (PHI) and confidential identifiable information (CII) to perform related job duties and responsibilities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Program Oversight & Strategic Leadership
- Provide strategic direction and oversight for Family Navigation Services, Family Impact, Health Care Integration, and Housing Support Services.
- Partner with program directors to align services with Akin’s mission, strategic priorities, and quality standards.
- Ensure programs meet contractual, regulatory, and funder requirements while fostering innovation and best practices.
Quality & Impact Management
- Implement continuous quality improvement processes across all program areas.
- Partner with the Data & Impact team to ensure accurate data collection, dashboard reporting, and evaluation for accountability and learning.
- Track measurable outcomes to assess program effectiveness and inform decision-making.
Workforce Development & Support
- Ensure professional development, training, and leadership opportunities for staff across all program areas.
- Champion equitable hiring, career pathways, and workforce policies that support intersectional professionals and staff retention.
- Promote staff well-being, collaboration, and growth across all departments.
Collaboration & Partnerships
- Collaborate with internal leaders on advocacy, fundraising, and external relations to strengthen program sustainability and impact.
- Build strong relationships with community partners, funders, policymakers, and peer organizations to enhance service reach and quality.
- Represent Akin in statewide and national forums related to child and family well-being.
Organizational Leadership
- Supervise directors within Child & Family Programs, providing performance management, coaching, and strategic guidance.
- Ensure alignment across departments to support a cohesive, integrated approach to child and family services.
- Partner with the VP of Integrated Services & Community Engagement to ensure cross-functional coordination and shared learning.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 10+ years of leadership experience in child and family services, early childhood, mental health, or a related human services field.
- Demonstrated success managing teams, programs, and budgets in complex nonprofit or public sector settings.
- Excellent relationship-building, communication, and organizational leadership skills.
- Experience using data to inform decisions, improve outcomes, and tell compelling impact stories.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and support teams with diverse identities and backgrounds, including implementing inclusive practices across recruitment, supervision, and service delivery.
- Working knowledge of the principles of accessibility, inclusion, and belonging, and a track record of incorporating these values into decision-making and team development.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
