Starting Wage: $17.23 per hour
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform general landscaping and grounds maintenance work, including mowing and applying mulch
- Assist in the application of fertilizer, herbicide/pesticide treatments
- Trim and prune plants at heights above ground level
- Perform maintenance, including patching and repairing to University sidewalks, streets and parking lots
- Assist with event support
- Perform snow and ice removal
- Operate and maintain lawn tractors, chain saws, and other lawn equipment
- Provide leadership to student and temporary workers
- Assist other trades or classifications when necessary
- Maintain a valid driver’s license
Position Duties
- High school diploma or GED
- Demonstrable work history reflecting reliability and dependability
- Possess a valid driver’s license
- Ability to work in inclement weather, including emergencies and snow removal, and live within 30 minutes travel time from the University
- Demonstrable knowledge in grounds maintenance
- Ability to use and experience with standard landscaping and grounds maintenance tools, machines, and equipment
- Demonstrable knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions in an institutional setting
- Ability to perform heavy work and lift up to 50 pounds and to work at heights up to 60 ft. that exist on campus with or without accommodations
- Ability to stoop, bend, stretch, reach, kneel, sit, or climb frequently and for extended periods of time while performing job duties
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and perform duties with minimal supervision
- Demonstrated experience and understanding of customer service
