Senior DevOps Engineer


The Senior DevOps Engineer is a key member of the platform team, focused on building and scaling the foundational systems that enable product engineering teams to deliver software efficiently and securely. This role drives automation, reliability, and developer enablement, ensuring our infrastructure supports rapid company growth and evolving business needs. The Senior DevOps Engineer does not have direct reports but is expected to mentor and collaborate with others across teams to simplify complex systems, promote best practices, and deliver scalable solutions that enable product engineers to deliver reliable and high-performing products.



 

Experience – What we’re looking for


  • Advanced programming experience (Python, Go, Ruby, etc.)
  • Proficiency with Linux/Unix administration, scripting, and programming (bash, Python, Ruby, etc.)
  • Deep expertise with core DevOps technologies such as Docker, Terraform, Ansible, and CloudFormation
  • Advanced proficiency with configuration management tools (Ansible, Chef, Puppet, etc.)
  • Strong experience with database administration
  • Strong troubleshooting and monitoring skills for Linux operating systems
  • Hands-on experience implementing monitoring and log aggregation platforms (ELK, Graylog, Graphite, Prometheus, etc.)
  • Experience automating the provisioning, deployment, and scaling of resources and applications using CI/CD workflows
  • Experience with testing automation tools and frameworks
  • Experience deploying and managing web and application servers, load balancers, queues, and caches; proven ability to scale and build resiliency into web application architectures. Experience deploying a 12 Factor App is a plus
  • Proficiency with source control systems and IaC to create scriptable, repeatable processes
  • AWS experience is a plus, as well as familiarity with EC2, S3, Route53, VPC, IAM, and EKS

 

What you’ll be doing


  • Design, build, automate, and maintain scalable, secure, and cost-effective infrastructure for production, development, and test environments
  • Deploy, manage, and scale web and application servers, load balancers, queues, and caches using CI/CD workflows
  • Implement and manage monitoring and log aggregation platforms to ensure system health, performance, and rapid incident response
  • Troubleshoot and support Linux based environments , maintaining high security standards including encryption and vulnerability management
  • Enforce security best practices, manage secrets and credentials, implement network policies, and ensure compliance with standards (i.e. SOC 2)
  • Collaborate with software engineers to design and implement product features and enable developer self-service
  • Use source control and configuration management tools to drive infrastructure management through scriptable, repeatable processes
  • Identify and complete projects that drive team outcomes, remove impediments, create cost savings, and improve efficiency
  • Work under general supervision with latitude for independent judgment, coordinating with the team to manage workload and maintain balance
  • Participate in on-call rotation
