In our Logistics Engineering Technologies & Advanced Logistics team, we work at ARENA2036, a research association on the campus of the University of Stuttgart, on pioneering robotics solutions for intralogistics. As part of the RoX research project, we are working with partners from industry and research to develop a flexible bin picking system for automated assembly pre-picking. We offer you the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with state-of-the-art robotics hardware in a collegial team with flexible working hours and to gain deep insights into an innovative research project with leading partners from industry and research.
Your tasks will include:
Integration of various software and hardware components into our robot demo cell
Implementation and testing of robot control functions
- Support with commissioning and maintenance of the demo cell
Development and deployment of perception modules for our bin picking robot
The activity can begin from January 2026.
Study program in computer science, electrical engineering, mechatronics, or a comparable study program
- Very good communication skills and proficiency in English and German
- Solid programming skills in Python and first experiences with common libraries (e.g., NumPy, OpenCV, PyTorch)
- First practical experience with ROS (preferably ROS2) and ideally the MoveIt framework
- A strong interest in robotics, particularly in areas like manipulation, bin-picking, or grasp planning
- Basic understanding of computer vision and 3D point cloud processing concepts (e.g., from university courses or projects)
- Good theoretical foundation in concepts like robot kinematics and coordinate transformations
- Comfortable working in a Linux-based environment and familiar with Git for version control
- Familiarity with Docker or experience with hardware (e.g., depth cameras, robotic arms) from projects is a plus, but not required
- Teamplayer
