Black Cultural Zone Community Development Corporation (BCZ CDC) is seeking a Hub Attendant - Floating with a demonstrated track record in customer service, light administration, and community engagement.
This role provides flexible operational and administrative support, acting as the welcoming presence and resource navigator at various community "Hubs" or locations managed by the Black Cultural Zone CDC. The Attendant ensures the smooth, safe, and welcoming operation of the physical spaces and actively connects residents to available resources. This position is vital for advancing BCZ CDC's mission to unapologetically center Black arts, culture, and economics in East Oakland and to guide the organization toward sustainability and maximizing its mission impact. We are seeking someone who is connected to and has a love for the East Oakland community. WHAT YOU'LL DO
As Hub Attendant - Floating, you will be responsible for a comprehensive range of community engagement and operational functions, ensuring the Hubs are welcoming and functional spaces for the community.
- Hub Operations: Manage the day-to-day operations of assigned community hubs, ensuring a welcoming and safe environment.
- Community Engagement: Serve as a first point of contact for community members, providing information about BCZ programs and resources.
- Resource Navigation: Connect residents and hub visitors to appropriate internal and external services and support.
- Event Support: Assist with the setup and teardown for various community events, meetings, and programs within the hubs.
- Logistical & Administrative Support: Perform light administrative, space cleaning and organizing, and logistical tasks to support hub activities and program staff.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate for this role is an organized and engaging communicator with deep commitment to community service.
- Education & Experience: A minimum of three years of experience in a public-facing role, such as customer service, reception, community outreach, or front-desk support, is required. Experience working for a community-based or non-profit organization is highly desirable.
- Specialized Knowledge: The role requires a strong knowledge of local social service resources, programs, and community support systems, particularly those serving the East Oakland community. Fluency in a second language commonly spoken by residents of the East Oakland community (e.g., Spanish, Cantonese, Vietnamese) is highly desirable.
- Abilities: You must have exceptional ability to engage with diverse community members, demonstrating empathy, patience, and a consistently welcoming and professional demeanor. Strong organizational, self-disciplined skills, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision are essential. You must have reliable transportation for travel between multiple BCZ CDC hub locations.

This is a part-time, hourly, non-exempt position. The hourly for this role is $25.00
As a part-time employee of BCZCDC, you will be eligible for:
- Paid Sick Leave (accrues at a rate of 1 hour per 30 hours worked up to 80 hours per year) after 90 days of employment
