POSITION SUMMARY
The OCS Transplant Coordinator is a part of TransMedics’ innovative National OCS Program and plays a critical case management role in donor screening, communication and coordination among organ procurement organizations, transplant centers, and the TransMedics team members resulting in better utilization of donor organs.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Generally, on call for a minimum of eight 24-hour shifts a month (including holidays and weekends) based on staffing and business needs.
- Time-off may be scheduled with advance notice, in coordination with manager.
- Screen donor lungs, hearts and livers for OCS suitability and retrieval potential in accordance with OCS eligibility criteria, as trained by TransMedics staff. Proficiently and accurately manage an on-going case load of at least 5-7 OCS cases at a time.
- Conduct efficient and accurate analysis of donor data with growing levels of independence.
- Collaborate closely with the TMDX logistics command center.
- Consult with TransMedics Clinical Leadership
- On-going communication with transplant center and OPO team members
- Coordinate the OCS process of donor organ retrieval and acceptance, among national OPOs, TransMedics retrieval and OCS management teams, transplant center staff and TMDX Logistics Command Center.
- Demonstrate proficiency in TMDX custom designed internal application to record the required documentation for each case.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and team projects as assigned.
- Be available to attend team meetings outside of call hours as necessary.
- Perform other TransMedics tasks and duties as assigned.
MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
This position manages the following positions on a daily basis.
- This position will not have management responsibilities.

- Role includes long periods of sitting/standing in front of a computer monitor
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- BS in Nursing, Health Science, Science or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum 5+ years of experience as a Transplant Coordinator, Organ Procurement Coordinator or in organ donor management with strong clinical background in transplant, ER, Trauma or Intensive Care; in-depth working knowledge of human anatomy and physiology
- Ability to work with all levels of the interdisciplinary transplant teams

- Must be highly flexible and willing to work an inconsistent schedule spanning all shifts and days with 24x7 call, including holidays and weekends
- Must be highly detail oriented with strong organizational skills
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills; able to work collaboratively and build rapport with internal and external contacts
- Works calmly and professionally under pressure
- Ability and confidence to make decisions independently regarding medical management of organ donors, logistical arrangements and organ allocation
- Must be able to work enthusiastically and attentively in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple and dynamic priorities
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Experience in medical compliance and data sharing
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook) and electronic medical records
