We are looking for a qualified accountant to manage, monitor, control and record the financial transactions of the company and comply with all statutory, management and Board requirements for financial reporting & tax.
For this FTC role it is key they also deliver a clean 2025 audit and statutory accounts (including supporting papers).
Responsibilities:
Accounting & Tax
- Deliver a clean audit and annual statutory accounts for the operating companies. Liaise with auditors and representatives of the companies, resolving all queries on a timely basis to meet Board deadlines
- Ownership over key judgemental areas of audit, including revenue recognition and provisions
- Review and assessment over existing approach to the consolidation and production of the financial statements, proposing improvements where needed.
- Ensure financial information is recorded accurately and in a timely manner in line with the company’s financial control policies.
- Responsible for the balance sheet accounting, ensuring closing balances are accurate and any outstanding items are investigated fully and resolved, liaising with other teams and departments where necessary.
- Monitor and review changes in regulatory legislation for financial reporting and tax and support the Director of Finance with the implementation and communication of changes within the finance department
- Responsible for ensuring companywide compliance with all VAT, including returns and payments
- Review and authorise the production of regulatory tax returns in order to fulfil the companies’ statutory requirements and to ensure payments/rebates are actioned in a timely manner
- Ensure adequate systems and procedures are in place and updated regularly to maintain compliance with all tax regulations (Incl. SAO)
- Lead review of FRS 102 updates on revenue and leases, producing impact assessment and propose process changes to address changes.
Process improvement
- Working closely with other Finance teams to continually improve end to end financial processes to reflect best business practice and meet the business needs
- Support the Director of Finance in projects and initiatives to ensure company financial systems are robust, compliant and support current activities and future growth
People management
- Identifying people development opportunities for the team aligned to the finance vision and the wider organisation’s needs
- Developing managers with leadership potential and providing support in the development of their reports
- Supporting the Management team in building financial awareness across the senior management community and wider organisation
About you:
- Professionally qualified Accountant (ACA preferable) with significant post qualification experience
- Experience in senior finance roles in medium to large companies
- A proven track record in managing a year-end audit and financial close, producing complete and accurate statutory accounts to tight deadlines
- Experience of UK GAAP (FRS 102) reporting and taxation
- Self-motivated with good organisational and communication skills with a strong attention to detail
- Ability to take a pro-active lead on matters of compliance and control within Finance and the business as a whole
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Ability to work well as part of a larger team
- Effective coaching, training and motivational skills, with experience of managing staff
