PPSO provides more than 30,000 patient visits each year at four health centers and via telehealth. PPSO is also regarded as the region’s most respected provider of medically accurate sexuality education for young people and adults, as well as training programs for professionals who work with youth and families. Position Summary

The Accounting Manager provides support to the Director of Finance to ensure financial accuracy and compliance and is responsible for oversight of all General Ledger accounting transactions. This position provides direct supervision to the Accounting Analyst (Accounts Payable) and work related to Accounts Payable.                      

RESPONSIBILITIES:  

Essential Duties

  • Manage the purchasing and inventory modules for the 340B drugs.  
  • Monitor cash on hand.
  • Reconcile the organization’s bank accounts and assigned balance sheet accounts each month.
  • Prepare monthly journal entries and manage the month-end close process to ensure closing on the stated deadline. 
  • Manage and maintain Fixed Assets and Deprecation Schedules.  Record monthly depreciation expenses.
  • Review, generate and manage distribution of all monthly financial reports. 
  • Assists with annual financial audit and budget preparation.
  • Coordinates information and material preparation for external auditors and prepares analyses and reports.
  • Assists the Director of Finance in ensuring that the data in the financial and accounting systems is timely and accurate. 
  • Maintain working knowledge of PPSO inventory system.  
  • Investigate variances in monthly HC counts and record reconciling entries into inventory system.  
  • Perform periodic internal audits of HC inventory practices as directed by the Director of Finance.  
  • Work with PPSO purchasing staff to ensure purchasing and inventory acquisition policies and procedures are effectively followed by health center staff. 
  • Complete quarterly QAFR report for PPFA.
  • Manage modules in Sage.
  • Serve as backup for payroll responsibilities. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Leadership and Management

  • Provide direct supervision, training, and mentoring of the Accounting Analyst.
  • Assists the Director of Finance with the development and implementation of accounting policies.
  • Monitor compliance with finance department procedures including cash, signature requirements, deposit verifications, petty cash procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field or equivalent experience.
  • At least five (5) years’ experience in accounting and financial management.
  • Experience processing general ledger, month end and year end functions with an automated accounting system.
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite of products including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams.
  • Proficiency in the use of an automated financial system.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in non-profit and/or healthcare accounting.
  • Three (3) + years’ experience with accounts payable and inventory management.
  • Two (2) + years’ experience with processing payroll, ADP knowledge preferred.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

Travel & Availability Requirements

  • Hybrid position with occasional travel required.
  • Must reside within the state of Oregon.
  • Must have ability to accommodate for travel to Eugene on an as needed basis.
