Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide initial and/or direct mental health support services to individual students, couples, and groups regarding a wide range of personal and academic concerns. These services include intake, assessment, case management, and crisis intervention.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate educational programming and outreach for the campus community on topics including but not limited to sexual assault, suicide prevention, and alcohol/substance abuse.
- Provide consultation and professional development activities for faculty, administration, and staff regarding interpreting and advocating for addressing the psychological and developmental needs of students.
- Provide case management services for students in collaboration with the behavior intervention team.
- Assist with data collection and analysis of data for annual and comprehensive unit reviews.
- Participate in campus initiatives designed to enhance student well-being, for example: Pau Violence Committee, Basic Needs Committee, Ka’ao Student Success Conference, etc.
- Assumes other related duties as assigned.
- Duties may include but not be limited to nights and weekends
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master's in Counseling Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, Social Work, or related field.
- 2 years experience in supporting mental health services.
- Working knowledge of legal and ethical considerations when providing mental health services.
- Experience developing prevention/education programming and presenting in front of large groups.
- Experience with case management and handling confidential information.
- Strong organization and communication skills.
- Experience collaborating across disciplines and advocating for others.
- Experience addressing safety concerns such as interpersonal violence, self-harming, suicidal behavior, or threats of violence.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Knowledge of current clinical, legal, and ethical issues relevant to college mental health services.
- Experience providing culturally responsive counseling to diverse populations.
- Experience providing mental health services in a higher education institution.
- Experience designing and implementing health and wellness programming.
- Thorough understanding of institutional, state, and federal policies that impact the provision of mental health services.
