Key Responsibilities

Monitoring & Maintenance

· Monitor and maintain core security applications, ensuring proper functionality and timely updates.

· Oversee patch and update deployment through Windows Update or other management systems.

· Monitor and verify data backup systems; investigate and escalate failed backup jobs.

· Assist with applying, verifying, and documenting firewall firmware updates and policy changes.

· Track endpoint protection alerts and verify resolution through central management tools.

· Help maintain asset inventories, ensuring compliance with security configuration standards.

Reporting & Escalation

· Prepare and submit detailed weekly security status reports to the Security Specialist.

· Document incidents, changes, updates, and recurring issues in accordance with IT policy.

· Escalate security alerts, backup failures, and unresolved system anomalies per defined escalation paths.

· Maintain accurate records for audit, compliance, and recovery purposes.

Collaboration & Support

· Work closely with the Security Specialist to align operational tasks with the organization’s security strategy.

· Collaborate with the broader IT team to resolve network or endpoint security issues.

· Participate in internal and external audits, compliance checks, and disaster recovery tests.

· Support awareness and training efforts related to cybersecurity best practices.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

· Associate’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

· 1+ year of IT support or network/security administration experience preferred.

· Hands-on experience with Windows Server environments, Active Directory, and endpoint protection tools is a plus.

Knowledge & Skills

· Understanding of core network and security concepts (TCP/IP, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, ACLs).

· Familiarity with security applications (antivirus, EDR, SIEM, patch management tools).

· Knowledge of backup systems, disaster recovery processes, and firewall operations.

· Strong documentation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

· Ability to recognize, troubleshoot, and escalate security issues effectively.
