At YSS, we believe in creating hope and opportunity for youth, families, and communities. As our next Chief Financial Officer (CFO), you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring our mission-driven programs are sustainable, accountable, and positioned for long-term success.

 

The CFO  serves as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, responsible for overseeing all financial functions, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, compliance, and strategic financial planning. This role partners closely with the CEO and Board of Directors to guide decisions that strengthen our fiscal health and advance our mission. This position will formulate and administer sound administrative, budgetary, purchasing, and accounting standards, policies, programs and plans to contribute to agency success and attainment of agency goals. This position supervises the entire finance department in accordance with YSS policies and procedures.

     

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Lead the organization’s financial strategy, planning, and analysis to ensure sustainability and mission alignment.

    • Oversee accounting, payroll, audit, tax filings, and compliance with state and federal regulations.

    • Develop and monitor annual budgets and long-term financial forecasts.

    • Provide clear, actionable financial reporting to the CEO, Board, and leadership teams.

    • Collaborate with program and development teams to align funding streams, grants, and expenditures.

    • Supervise and mentor finance and payroll staff to promote excellence, integrity, and innovation.

    • Partner with external auditors, financial institutions, and key stakeholders to maintain fiscal transparency and accountability.

    Qualifications


    What We're Looking For:

    • Master's degree in accounting, finance, or business administration with a minimum of five years of progressive financial leadership, ideally in the non-profit or human services sector, OR, a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business administrative with a minimum of ten years of progressive financial leadership, ideally in the non-profit or human services sector, 
    • Deep understanding of fund accounting, grant management, and compliance requirements.

    • Strategic thinker with a collaborative, hands-on approach to leadership.

    • Exceptional communication skills and a passion for advancing a mission that matters.

    • Proven success at leading and managing professionals in finance/accounting, including team development and efficient deployment through a practiced coaching and a people-focused management style.
