The Domestic Violence Advocacy Coordinator (DVAC) plays a key leadership role at Haven House, supporting and guiding advocates who provide critical services to survivors in court settings. Working closely with the Counseling & Advocacy Program Supervisor, the DVAC offers training, direction, and oversight to advocates in justice courts, Erie County Integrated Domestic Violence Court, Felony Domestic Violence Court, and Family Court.
Major Responsibilities/Activities:
- Work in conjunction with the Counseling & Advocacy Program Supervisor to manage the development and implementation of Haven House's Court Advocacy Program to provide quality, comprehensive services to victims of domestic violence and intimate partner violence involved in the court system.
- Provide training, technical assistance, consultation, and support to the Haven House advocates and ensure coordination of services across jurisdictions.
- Engage in case conferences and case reviews with Haven House advocates
- Develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with the various police departments, presiding judges, resource coordinators, and other court personnel, and assistant district attorneys as well as any other relevant parties.
- Provide training to community stakeholders regarding domestic violence and advocacy.
- Provide trauma-informed, client-centered advocacy for domestic violence and intimate partner violence involved in the court system, including crisis intervention, safety planning, risk and needs assessments, and coordinated resources and services as needed.
- Provide coverage in the courts as needed.
- Provide coverage for Haven House's crisis telephone hotline as needed.
- Model and practice sensitivity, fair treatment, and acceptance of diversity in all interpersonal interactions.
- Participate and contribute to program Quality Improvement Processes.
- Utilize agency and IT systems according to agency protocols.
- Conduct other duties as assigned.
Competitive Pay Rate of $32 per hour
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor of Social Work degree (BSW) or equivalent education and experience required, MSW preferred;
- 2 years paid professional experience preferred
- NYS driver's license and continued automobile insurance
- Strong writing and data entry skills
- Proficient at utilizing computer, cloud and web-based programs, and MS office
