Purpose of this Role 

The Development Manager for Impact Initiatives is a frontline fundraiser responsible for generating philanthropic revenue (major gifts, annual leadership giving, corporate, foundation, and public/philanthropic collaborations) to support UWCW’s strategic impact initiatives. This role manages a portfolio of donors and prospects, develops tailored cultivation and stewardship strategies, supports cross-functional funding opportunities, and helps translate UWCW’s community impact work into compelling donor-facing cases for support. Additionally, this role may be asked to periodically represent UWCW at various events or community gatherings.  

The Development Manager is an active member of the Resource Development (RD) team and collaborates closely with Community Impact, Corporate Relations, Marketing/Communications, Finance/Grants, and Volunteer Engagement. At the direction of the Senior Director of Resource Development and/or the CEO, this role may also represent UWCW at pertinent committees, public briefings, cross-sector workgroups, or coalition gatherings.

  • Timely data entry compliance (in accordance with UWCW policies)  

  • Active participation in assigned committees/coalitions

Supervision and Working Relationships 

Supervisory Direction Received: 

  • This position reports to the Senior Director of Resource Development. 

Working Relationships: 

  • United Way staff, local, regional partners, community and nonprofit organizations, and community members. 

Supervises: 

  • No direct supports 

Education, Skills, Experience, and Training Required for this Position 

Required  

  • 3+ years of experience in fundraising, donor relations, or comparable relationship management role, with demonstrated success closing gifts of $5K–$25K+.  

  • Experience managing a portfolio of individual, corporate, and/or foundation donors.  

  • Ability to build authentic relationships across diverse communities and communicate UWCW’s mission in a compelling, equity-centered way.  

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including donor proposals and presentations.  

  • Proficiency with CRM platforms (Salesforce preferred) and comfort analyzing donor data for strategy.  

Preferred  

  • 5+ years of experience in development, with major gifts or initiative-based fundraising experience strongly preferred.  

  • Knowledge of community impact initiatives, cross-sector collaborations, or public-private partnerships.  

  • Experience working within a federated nonprofit or large community organization with multi-stakeholder partnerships.  

  • Spanish or another language commonly spoken in UWCW’s service region is a plus.  

Technical Knowledge 

  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint) is essential. 

Physical Requirements 

  • Currently working a hybrid work schedule 

  • Work is primarily performed indoors, within an open office setting with a moderate noise level and occasional exposure to scents. 

  • Frequently required to sit/stand at computer in a stationery position. 

  • Frequently operates a computer and other office productivity equipment, such as copy machine, printer, phone, and fax machine. 

  • Frequently required to move about inside the office for meetings, access to information, office equipment, etc.
