ECS is seeking a Senior IT Specialist to work in our Newington, VA office.
ECS was awarded a new 5-year contract supporting the FBI’s Operational Technology Division (OTD) Research & Development Support program.
This initiative supports a diverse portfolio of research and development efforts while managing the IT infrastructure that enables those activities—specifically across IT Support, IT Security, IT Services, and Administrative Compliance. The program addresses complex technical and investigative challenges resulting from rapid advances in global communications, computer networks, cellular systems, and the Internet.
ECS applies rapid research and development methodologies in a collaborative environment to create innovative solutions to critical operational problems, including device exploitation and application analysis.
Responsibilities
The Senior IT Specialist supports the Service Desk (core hours 9:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.) and reports directly to the Service Desk Administrator. This position performs all Tier 1 and Tier 2 service-desk functions and is responsible for the following duties:
- Analyze system requirements and ensure secure integration with existing applications.
- Install, configure, and test IT systems—including servers, software and hardware upgrades, and peripheral devices.
- Manage mobile device inventory, updates, account provisioning, and device rooting.
- Monitor system performance to ensure operational efficiency and security.
- Manage IT projects that enhance infrastructure performance and resiliency.
- Maintain disaster-recovery operations, including backup and restoration procedures.
- Document IT infrastructure configurations and network topology for continuity and future upgrades.
- Collaborate with development teams and organizational IT staff to provide technical expertise and guidance.
- Implement and enforce technology and cybersecurity best practices.
- Monitor and manage team data-storage systems and capacity planning.
- Design and implement functional and secure network infrastructure.
- Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure issues escalated by developers or system users.
- Analyze system logs to identify and remediate potential issues.
- Automate routine administrative tasks and evaluate automation effectiveness.
- Mentor team members on technical procedures, tools, and troubleshooting methodologies.
- Conduct regular system audits to ensure compliance, performance, and security.
- Location: Newington, VA (Hybrid – 2 days onsite, 3 days remote)
