The CIBC Breast Assessment Centre (BAC) is a multidisciplinary organized breast assessment centre bringing together expertise in radiology, pathology, surgery, medical radiation technology, ultrasound, nursing and genetic counselling. The CIBC BAC will provide rapid diagnostic evaluation to women who are symptomatic and/or have a screen-detected abnormality identified through routine breast screening or cancer surveillance screening and ensure timely navigation to surgical or medical treatment. The CIBC BAC will provide radiological support for breast surgical procedures.


As a member of the multidisciplinary health care team, the Ultrasound Technologist coordinates, performs and evaluates diagnostic ultrasound examinations specific to breast assessment, and will work directly with the Radiologist. Provides optimum patient care and demonstrates a professional manner in the work setting.

  1. Current registration in good standing with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO).
  2. Minimum 5 years experience in breast ultrasound is required.
  3. Successful completion of Breast (BR) specialty examination for the Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (RDMS) or process of completing within a mutually agreed upon timeline.
  4. Demonstrated effective communication, organization and interpersonal skills
  5. Demonstrated good computer skills (Eg. Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Office, Meditech, PACS).
  6. Demonstrated ability to work responsibly in a team environment and to handle stress and conflict management in a professional, effective manner.
  7. Ability to deal effectively with clients and their families, coworkers, physicians and staff.
  8. Evidence of participation in on-going education and professional development.
  9. Excellent problem recognition and problem solving skills.
  10. Demonstrated ability to work effectively and accurately, both autonomously and as an effective team member.
  11. Ability to meet patient/staff needs in an efficient manner.
  12. Commitment to meet the goals and objectives of the department.
