Are you a hands-on problem solver who loves variety in your day? Summit Square Retirement Community is looking for a skilled and dependable Maintenance Technician to join our team! Our techs are talented problem solvers who keep our campus running smoothly on a daily basis— tackling repairs, answering requests quickly, and ensuring our community is functioning safely, effectively, and efficiently!   • Respond quickly to maintenance requests and complete repairs across the campus.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and regular inspections to keep everything running at peak performance.
  • Troubleshoot and repair building systems including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and general facilities.
  • Ensure smooth daily operations and provide support for facility-related needs.
  • Maintain clean, organized workspaces and ensure tools and equipment are safely and properly used.
  • Keep detailed records of work completed, time spent, and materials used. 
  • Assist with seasonal needs like snow and ice removal to keep our campus safe year-round.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

 

Requirements

  • Current Virginia driver’s license and meets driver eligibility requirements per Sunnyside policy HR069
  •  Please note this role requires participation in on-call rotation.  
  • A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in general maintenance/repairs is preferred. 
  • Ability to process information accurately, make appropriate decisions, and take appropriate action based on the information available.
  • Must have basic working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and heating & cooling.
  • Strong customer service skills; maintain a hospitality approach to engaging with all individuals.  

 

Physical & Environmental Considerations Work Environment: This job primarily operates in an indoor environment, with the potential of some outdoor work involved. Which could include temperature conditions, varying outdoor surfaces, and a wide range of landscaping grades.  Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is frequently required to routinely sit, stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb,   push, and pull items weighing 50 lbs or less and occasionally more than 75   lbs. The position requires manual dexterity; auditory and visual skills; and the ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures.

Work Hazards: General hazards related to the operation of tools and functionality of maintenance systems on campus; varying surfaces that could be wet, icy, muddy, etc. Ability to use properly, as well as possible exposure to heat and cold. Minimal hazards if universal precautions are followed.
