Job Summary: THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a JOINT OPERATIONS CENTER TECHNICIAN (TITLE 32), Position Description Number NGD124500 and is part of the TN ARMY National Guard. This vacancy is covered by Association of Civilian Technicians (ACT), Chapter 103 (Volunteer Chapter).
Major Duties:
- As a JOINT OPERATIONS CENTER TECHNICIAN (Military), GS-0303-07, you will assist in the management and daily operations of the Joint Operations Center (JOC). Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with Federal, State, and public agencies and military units within the State. Take calls from Federal, State, and public on exchange of information and records all pertinent data. Examine, analyze, and interprets data from a variety of resources, i.e., interrelated electronic monitoring instruments, visual displays, area maps, news reports, and electronic mail to detect conditions of the area, either normal or abnormal. Participate with the JOC manager in briefing key staff members on significant emergency situations and providing situational assessments requiring response and recommendations for appropriate action. Control COMSEC information, material, and advice and is responsible for receipt, inventory, storage, issue, protection, and destruction. Perform a wide variety of administrative services. Duties are split as needed between front desk and in joint operations center to provide over-watch of the Hugh Mott complex and employees. Duties involve are analyzing and interpreting data from a variety of sources such as WebEOC, Dataminr, DAART, Guardian, TAK, Radar Omega, ADS-B exchange, local news, national news, NWS Chat, Dispatch, NGB, NG COP, email, closed circuit television, amateur radio, TACN, TMAC, SHARES, and TDOT Smart ways to improve the COP. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Military Grades: E-3 through E-7 GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience analyzing problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data, and recognize solutions; plan and organize workflow; communicate effectively orally and in writing. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have 12 months or have at least 1 year next lower grade level with the knowledge in examining, analyzing, and interpreting data; maintain log records of activities, monitor radio communications, and relay information through various communications equipment.
