Everything we build is deployed immediately. We don’t build technology because we can – we build in direct response to mission need from our users. We partner with the DoD, the IC, interagency groups, and foreign partners to control our adversaries’ perceptions, disrupt their networks of influence, and guard information advantage in arenas beyond the Pacific, including the frontlines of the Ukraine conflict, denied environments in the Middle East, and counter-influence operations in South America.
We are the only team laser-focused on non-kinetic capabilities for strategic competition, and this focus has paid off. Since our founding in 2019, we have reached $80M in revenue, developed a full capability stack beyond our flagship product, achieved profitability, and grown to 200+ people, while only spending $12M of the $91.5M raised in venture capital. In October 2024, we were valued at $1.5B, making us the most capital-efficient Defense unicorn by an order of magnitude.
Our strategy
We outpace other defense tech companies in a few areas, including high margins, fast growth, ample capital, and a singular focus on defense over dual-application technology. This gives us a foundation to make aggressive bets on new customers, capabilities, and missions.
We intend to do just that. We will making big investments in product-driven domains like offensive cyber, perception management for space assets, sensing platforms, and contested logistics, as well as policy-driven bets guided by our GR team, leveraging our existing products, customer footprint, and access to capital as a launch pad.
The GM role
As we scale, senior leadership gaps are emerging. The most critical role to fill will be General Managers, who are the CEOs of Vannevar’s business units and members of the executive leadership team. GMs will be fully empowered to make new bets, with autonomy over the growth, success, strategy, and engineering teams deployed into their business unit, and complete ownership of the outcome. Available resources already at Vannevar include Capture, Program Strategy, GR & Lobbying, and Comms teams, as well as EA support.
The skills and day-to-day responsibilities will vary by the type (e.g., customer-driven vs. product-driven) and maturity of the BU of interest. For our more mature business units, there is less risk, with more of a focus on winning programs and scaling across multiple portfolios. For our nascent business units, the role will be making the right 0-1 bets on a critical mission and iterating closely with the product and engineering teams to grow revenue and then scale the team. While our leadership team has a long list of potential 0-1 opportunities, the GM can ultimately start with their own hypothesis or leverage an existing idea.
