About the job

OutlineSummaryWe are currently working with multiple early stage venture backed startups in web 3 who are seeking specialists in MEV Research. Across teams we are seeking candidates with the following qualities:As a MEV Researcher, your primary responsibility will be to analyze blockchain networks and identify potential opportunities for extracting maximal value from transactions. You will collaborate with other team members, including developers and data scientists, to design strategies and develop tools to exploit MEV. Your research and analysis will contribute to the development of cutting-edge solutions for optimizing transaction execution and profitability in blockchain environments.Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-depth research and analysis of various blockchain networks to identify potential MEV opportunities.
  • Monitor and analyze transaction flows, including smart contract interactions and mempool data, to identify high-value transactions and potential arbitrage opportunities.
  • Collaborate with developers and data scientists to design and implement advanced algorithms and models for MEV extraction and optimization.
  • Develop tools and infrastructure to automate MEV detection, extraction, and optimization processes.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in blockchain technologies and MEV research to continuously enhance strategies and approaches.
  • Provide regular reports and presentations on research findings, including statistical analysis, risk assessment, and potential impact on blockchain networks.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, traders, and product managers, to integrate MEV strategies into existing systems and products.
  • Contribute to academic research papers, industry publications, and open-source projects to share knowledge and advancements in the field of MEV extraction.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics, or a related field. PhD or research background preferred.
  • Strong understanding of blockchain technology, including smart contracts, decentralized finance (DeFi) protocols, and transaction mechanics.
  • Solid programming skills in languages such as Python, Solidity, or Rust.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and statistical modeling, with experience using tools such as Python libraries (NumPy, Pandas) and data visualization frameworks (Matplotlib, Plotly).
  • Familiarity with blockchain data analysis tools and frameworks (e.g., Ethereum Etherscan, Web3.js, or similar).
  • Knowledge of MEV concepts, including frontrunning, sandwich attacks, flash loans, and oracle manipulation.
  • Experience with algorithm design and optimization techniques for transaction execution and profit maximization.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and analytically.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex ideas and research findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated and able to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Positions are globally remote with some travel requirements.Less experienced or pre-graduation candidates can be considered for a research fellow role, or alternatively a research engineering role - web3 nativity would become a must.
