About The Role
The Engineering discipline at Wolfjaw Studios is the heart of our teams, focusing on developing and improving the features we curate for our client partners.
We're involved in almost every aspect of development you can think of, with a focus on backend development for online game services and integration of those backend systems into game clients/servers.
Whatever the calling, we find the solution that our audience needs.
As a Software Engineer, you will work with a team of producers and engineers assisting with the development of client features, creation of robust documentation, and collaborating with internal and external teams to deliver new and exciting features to our clients.
- This position has the opportunity to be fully remote, but for candidates local to Troy, NY a hybrid arrangement is possible**

- Exceptional written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively within your team and with clients.
- Experience working on multiplayer Unreal Engine projects, using both C++ and Blueprints.
- You have previous experience working with backend APIs and have experience with networking concepts.
- You are able to meaningfully contribute to discussions around architecture, design, and approach for any given technical problem within your realm of expertise.
- You contribute to identifying dependencies and constraints, both in software development and across teams.
- You are able to break down tasks into smaller, well defined tasks.
- You are comfortable working with a team in a version control environment (Gitlab, Perforce, etc.)
- You have experience working within the games industry with an understanding of the software development lifecycle.
- Experience working in Unreal Engine on a multiplayer title, using both C++ and Blueprints.
- Experience with Unreal Engine’s Online Subsystem.
- Experience integrating third-party APIs into an Unreal Engine game.
- 2+ years of programming experience; can include but is not limited to paid, volunteer, project, and academic work.
- Critical thinking, with the ability to adapt quickly to change, communicate impact, and align with the new direction.
- Experience working on voice chat integrations, such as Unity’s Vivox.
- Experience working on matchmaker integrations, such as Unity’s Matchmaker.
- Experience working on game server integrations, such as Unity’s Multiplay.
- Experience working on game backends using Golang, C#/.NET, Python, PHP, Ruby, or Javascript.
- Experience with databases (SQL, Document Stores, or In-Memory).
- Experience working with CI/CD tooling such as Jenkins or GitHub Actions.
- Exhibits learning agility; has the ability to think differently, and/or grasp and apply new skills and concepts.
- Approaches problems in a clear, well-organized, and solutions-oriented manner.
- Able to effectively communicate problems, solutions, needs, or priorities.

The standard base pay range for our Unreal Engine Software Engineer is between $80,000 - $100,000 USD annually, depending on level of experience and compatibility with our current needs.
This range is determined by an array of factors, including training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, and market demands. Additionally, it is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
