What You'll DoWe are looking for a Data Visualization Engineer to join one of our Global Analytics teams at Avalara, you will:

  • Oversee the PowerBI reporting platform, coordinating with IT to manage the infrastructure that supports user access, data sources, and report deployments.
  • Develop and document standards for report design, data visualization, and data integrity to ensure consistency and quality across all reports.
  • Develop processes for report review and maintenance, including version control and change management.
  • Work with developers from multiple teams to understand their reporting needs and provide guidance on best practices for report creation and data presentation.
  • Audit reports to ensure they meet established standards, are accurate, and provide actionable insights.
  • Provide support and training to end-users to help them use and interpret reports. Address any issues or feedback related to report functionality or content.
  • Identify opportunities for improving the reporting process, optimizing performance, and enhancing the user experience.

What You'll Need to be Successful
  • You have at least 3 years of experience in business intelligence, data analysis, or a related field, with a major focus on PowerBI.
  • You are proficienct in PowerBI, including report development, data modeling, and DAX
  • You are familiar with SQL, data warehousing, and ETL processes involved.
  • You have experience approaching a problem from different angles, analyzing pros and cons of different solutions in ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
  • You have a commitment to maintaining high quality and accuracy in report outputs.
  • You are certified in PowerBI or other relevant certifications in business intelligence or data analysis.
  • You have previous experience defining standards and processes for business intelligence platforms in a corporate environment.
About The TeamYou will join Avalara's Global Analytics and Insights team supporting Sales, Marketing, Finance, Operations, and other important partners. You will work remotely and report to the Sr. Director of Analytics.Pay Range DetailsThe base pay range(s) below are provided in compliance with state specific laws. Pay ranges may be different in other locations.Colorado $95,500 - $152,700 (annually)Washington $95,500 - $168,700 (annually)California $95,500 - $184,900 (annually)NYC $105,500 - $184,900 (annually)The pay range above is the general base pay range for you in the state listed. Your actual salary/wage may be based on several factors, such as geographic location, candidate experience and qualifications, market and business considerations.
