Your Opportunity:As a Procurement Specialist I, you will be responsible for performing purchasing functions consistent with established policies and practices while utilizing your excellent customer service skills and ability to communicate effectively with staff and external vendors. You will be responsible for the acquisition and procurement of routinely purchased supplies, equipment and services within assigned work groups. Completion of a minimum 2-year post-secondary education in the field of Business or Supply Chain Management. Supply Chain Management courses from an accredited institution, such as Supply Chain Canada, Association for Supply Chain Management (ASCM), or post-secondary University or College. 1-3 years of purchasing experience. Intermediate understanding of purchasing fundamentals, including Logistics, Supply Chain Management (SCM), Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) and Customer Relationship Management (CRM). Basic understanding of contract language and legal terminology. Proficiency with MS office applications. Keyboarding skills with minimum of 30 wpm. Ability to communicate in English clearly and effectively, verbally and in writing, with all levels of staff, management, and vendors. Ability to produce a large volume of work with a high degree of accuracy. Effective organizational skills, ability to prioritize and strong attention to detail. Oracle or other ERP system experience. Client focused and ability to work effectively in a team environment. Demonstrates a high standard of work ethic in previous position with minimal errors. Must be a self-starter, work with confidential information, demonstrate initiative and be able to action assigned tasks. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment which may include patient critical requests. A mandatory knowledge and skills test will be administered to selected candidates.Preferred Qualifications: Combination of education and experience may be considered. Healthcare and/or Public Purchasing/supply chain experience is an asset. Relevant designations pertaining to supply chain management preferred.
