Engagement Details

We started with the mission of bringing a simple payment experience to the text space. Over the past five years we’ve continued to innovate on what a simple payment conversation really is. Our platform manages the mission critical task of billing and payments on behalf of our partners and customers, removing the burden of investing in additional resources, infrastructure, and a customer management web portal. It also provides the 70% of consumers who live paycheck to paycheck the power to authorize bill payments quickly and on their terms. Located in Southern California, we're located in the heart of Silicon Beach, the second largest technology hub in the world. We are a lean startup resourced and managed by a group of experienced technical and business professionals.


The Role

We’re looking for a versatile and skilled Tech Lead who excels in TypeScript and AWS, with a balance of hands-on coding expertise and leadership capabilities. In this role, you’ll be responsible for guiding the technical direction of projects, mentoring developers, and building robust backend solutions. Experience with AI is a significant advantage, as we’re increasingly exploring innovative AI-driven solutions. This position is a 50/50 split between hands-on development and leadership responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of developers, providing guidance in technical architecture, best practices, and TypeScript/AWS development.
  • Write, review, and optimize TypeScript code for performance, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Oversee AWS infrastructure design, deployment, and management, ensuring alignment with business goals.
  • Collaborate closely with product management and other stakeholders to define project scope, timelines, and technical requirements.
  • Foster a culture of knowledge sharing, innovation, and continuous improvement within the team.
  • Stay current on AI trends and technologies, assessing potential applications to enhance our products and services.


Location: Remote from any country

Must be available to work until 12pm Pacific Time (later would be great)

Required Qualifications

  • Advanced speaking and writing English. Able to have a real-time conversation.
  • 6+ years of full-time hands-on Software Development experience.
  • 3+ years of full-time hands-on Tech Lead experience.
  • 4+ years of full-time hands-on Backend API Javascript/Typescript experience.
  • 4+ years of full-time hands-on AWS experience.
  • 3+ years of full-time hands-on Serverless experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in technical leadership or mentorship roles.
  • Proficiency in core AWS services and a strong understanding of cloud architecture and infrastructure.
  • Solid understanding of RESTful APIs, microservices, and serverless architectures.
  • Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective communicator with a talent for translating technical information into actionable guidance.

Nice to haves

  • Experience with AI/ML frameworks and AI-driven applications.
  • Familiarity with front-end technologies (e.g., Vue) for occasional cross-functional collaborations.
  • Hands-on experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud security best practices.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent demonstrated ability.
