JOB MISSION

The objective is to launch a business support program specifically designed for migrant and refugee entrepreneurs in Mexico and Colombia. This initiative aims to empower these entrepreneurs by providing them with the tools, knowledge, and networks necessary to establish and grow their businesses, fostering economic integration and contributing to local economies. The program aims to directly support 150 entrepreneurs in one year (75 per country), focusing on sustainable business development, job creation, and income generation. We are seeking two consultants, one in Mexico and another in Colombia, to manage and implement this program.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Program Design and Customization:

  • Collaborate with local organizations to address the needs of migrant and refugee entrepreneurs.
  • Establish connections between local entrepreneurship support organizations and the program.
  • Develop multilingual, culturally appropriate workshops and materials.
  • Design the program framework, including metrics and timelines.

Outreach and Selection Strategies:

  • Implement strategies to identify and attract migrant and refugee mentors and entrepreneurs through various channels.
  • Promote the program to recruit mentors, especially from donor organizations.
  • Oversee the development of the program's website and marketing materials.
  • Ensure marketing materials are contextually appropriate and translated as needed.
  • Evaluate applications based on selection criteria and support applicants as necessary.
  • Monitor application metrics to meet program objectives.

Incubation Program Implementation:

  • Coordinate the delivery of the incubation program, including personalised mentoring, business skills training, and access to the Bridge for Billions digital platform.
  • Ensure cultural sensitivity training for mentors and staff, and adapt the curriculum as needed.
  • Select the entrepreneurs and mentors who will participate in the program.
  • Monitor the progress of entrepreneurs and mentors throughout the program and schedule ad-hoc meetings to advise participants as needed.
  • Communicate and remind participants about upcoming group meetings or training sessions via email or messaging platforms (e.g., WhatsApp).
  • Conduct a detailed review of work done in the online program and provide feedback or resources to support entrepreneurs.
  • Execute additional program activities alongside local entrepreneurship support organisations.

Event Management:

  • Organise events for entrepreneurs to present their businesses to a broader audience, including potential investors and partners.
  • Organise and hold a Demo Day to showcase the selected entrepreneurs and their businesses to potential investors and program allies.
  • Facilitate networking opportunities to foster connections and investments.

Impact Measurement and Reporting:

  • Generate detailed impact reports for the donor, aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
  • Conduct a thorough evaluation of the program's effectiveness in terms of business sustainability, job creation, and income growth.
  • Support the development of a Situational Analysis Report of the Ecosystem to thoroughly assess the current state, challenges, and needs of Entrepreneurial Support Organizations (ESOs) within the target regions in Mexico and Colombia. This includes stakeholder mapping, interviews, surveys, analysis, and a report with conclusions.
